My boy Zoro acts out so hard when the Usopp thing happens on Water 7. My heart still stops when he shouts at Nami to shut up after she tries to talk him out of his monologue, like bruh that shit terrifying. And everyone knows it’s cause he wants the crew to get serious and show self respect instead of letting Usopp make an idiot od himself further, but like damn bitch when a man screams at his friends like that? Especially at a female friend... I don’t know that he gets how terrifying he is in that moment.
I kinda love it though cause it shows exactly how concerned he is. He is basically imploring Luffy not to let himself be taken advantage of and pushed around and doesn’t know how else to make the others realize he is dead serious.
So really, it’s awesome and this type of scene is what makes Zoro the most mature on the crew at the time aside from Robin.
He isn’t normally an authorative figure, preferring to do his own thing or obey his captain... So this along with his moment in Foxy Arc when he goes off at Chopper really caught me off guard. The thing about it is, at face value it seems like he’s just being a macho dick, but then you stop to think a little more about it—— You realize; This is exactly what the crew needs. Someone who is unafraid to dish out some tough love now and then. Who doesn’t dote or sugarcoat things and toughens their friends up to face what’s out there.
The only real caveat is his sometimes very lacking manners, but I like to think his friends (and a poised lady like Robin in particular) can help him out in that department.
