When people say Sana apologizing but getting nothing back is “unrealistic” or Sara and Ingrid not being held accountable for their actions by people surrounding them is “bad storytelling” I....... don’t get it bcs this shit happens all the time.I hate to say it but girls do gang up like that?? They KNOWINGLY and gleefully exclude others and do their best to make them feel less than. This was Normal at my school. AND THEY GOT AWAY WITH IT. THEY WERE NEVER HELD ACCOUNTABLE BY THEIR PEERS BECAUSE IT’S WHAT THEY’VE BEEN TAUGHT. They’ve been told, by media specifically, that other girls are their competition and their rivals and if they’re different, well, tear them down.Â
That Sana is the person who has to take all the blame (literally, ALL OF IT, even the blame for the hate account towards Vilde) is because girls like Ingrid and Sara? They get away with it. They have the attention and the respect of their peers to be able to get away with it. This is what they know, what they’ve been taught and they’ve never really heard anyone say it’s wrong. No one has taught them, not really, how damaging it is. That they’re not each other’s competition and that being different is okay, even good. They’ve heard it, surely, and I’m sure they think that’s what they stand for but this narrative of otherness and exclusion and competition is such a big part of their day to day life that I don’t think they notice anymore. This is the reality of so many teenage girls all over the world.Â
It was my reality. If i were to meet my own personal Sara or Ingrid today, they'd greet me like an old friend. They'd hug me and ask me what I'm up to now without even realizing I'm on the brink of a full blown anxiety attack and will probably break down the second they walk away. In school, I was far from perfect. I did some fucked up shit. A lot of it was a reaction to exclusion, shaming and straight up bullying and a lot of it wasn't. It took me so long to realize the stuff I was doing and the stuff they were doing were wrong. It took me even longer to realize that somehow I was always the one apologizing for my mistakes, for the hurt that I caused, but no one would tell me they were sorry in return.Â
MY POINT IS, the fact that Sana had to apologize and no one else did (so far) isn't bad storytelling. It's not unrealistic. It happens. All the time. Seeing sana sitting there, upset and alone and feeling like she's worst person on the planet hit me HARD. Because that was me.Â
and then seeing it ending up with her friends taking her side and having her back? i just..... it killed me and i loved it

So I'm starting my millionth rewatch of White Collar and I'm wondering: where do you see the characters on the moral alignment? Also, does this change as the series progresses or does it just reveal their true colors? For example: Neal solving crimes and Peter being not always so lawful?
These kind of questions gives me LIFE. Bless you for this. I had to think about it but Neal is Chaotic Good, no question (whereas Mozzie is Chaotic Neutral). I’m not as sure about Peter but I’d put him on either Lawful Good or Neutral Good. I keep changing my mind about him. El would be Lawful Good, no? I mean, girlie is as good as they come. I think I’d put Sara on Lawful Neutral...... To begin with? Probably? GAjudisjld Why is this so hard? It’s been ages since I watched it. I do think there is some change, especially as far as Neal and Sara goes. Maybe even Mozzie? But I think the writers were pretty split up about their characters though, considering their actions and reactions were all over the place a lot of the time. So it’s hard to tell tbh. Neal kept wanting to be good, to be more like Peter, until he didn’t want to anymore. Peter kept wanting to help Neal and see his side of things until suddenly Neal was a criminal and he couldn’t be trusted. A bit unsure about the other characters considering it’s probably been a couple years since I watched a full episode. Maybe it’s time for a rewatch for me too???? :DÂ
