Belle was nervous. She hadn’t even told Adam and he already knew. She didn’t know how to tell him, but apparently, Plumette had told Lumiere and Lumiere had told her husband.
“I-I” Belle felt so overwhelmed, “I found out only yesterday. The doctor says I’m about four months along.” She said softly, “I was going to tell you, really!” She quickly said, “I was just waiting for the right time, but I see that no one can truly keep a secret around here.”
When Lumiere had congratulated him, with the typical enthusiasm that Lumiere exuded, Adam had been confused. And then, when Lumiere had proceeded to tell him why he was congratulating him he had been...stunned. He had been stunned until he had gone up to find Belle.
And then he had simply asked. He couldn’t help himself. He perhaps could have been a bit more tactful about it, but that had never been his strong suit.
Adam let out a breath, running a hand through his hair before glancing at Belle. He wasn’t mad, nor upset that she hadn’t told him. And then she made that statement about no one keeping a secret, and he couldn’t help but smile a bit. “No, no one can keep a secret around here. It was like pulling teeth to get them to not reveal the truth to you during the curse.” A moment of silence, now that the tension had been relieved somewhat.
“Four months?”
