Oh 2012, We all Need a Hug! xoxo Jeskimo
I am a restaurant bartender in Newtown, CT and my heart is broken for all my customers and every baby that walks through our doors at The Inn. As they will never be the same, CT, the nation and our world will never be the same, neither will I. #weallneedahug
I must say this past weekend will definitely change my life forever. At an already difficult time of year for me, I cannot feel more emotion of sadness and honest respect for all those I've come in contact with in Newtown. From residents, to parents, the owner of my restuarant and my managers and coworkers, the reporters (from all over the world), the strangers (from all over the world)-Their support has been touching and seems to remind us all that human nature has goodness. The good will prevail over evil and our trials at this time and time in the future can make us better people to ourselves and each other.
To all of my family and friends who are parents, teachers and serve to protect our communities and country, I have the upmost respect for what you do. This new year will be filled with hope and positive changes to keep what is important in life the priority: Family and Best Friends. I am praying for Newtown and these 26 angels in Heaven each day. On Saturday, I spent 10 hours with two amazing teachers from Newtown who needed a day to cope, a break from the media and crying, after such tragedy had occur the day before in front of their eyes. I love them so much as they reminded me of my sister and my mother, both teachers. I am so proud of our teachers during times like these.Â
On a personal level I did not loose a family member in this tradgey but I lost my mom on January 28, 2004 from Adrenal Gland Cancer. For almost nine years I've been lost without her. Not that she would know exactly the right things to say or do as I grew up and made choices and the mistakes that I have now been trying to clean up, but she would have been there to hug me and tell me it was all going to be ok, even if she really didn't believe it at the time. These 20 angels have given me a new hope for myself. Their futures are with MY mommy in Heaven and they are in good hands! I feel myself changing in a way that just didn't happen nine years ago.
Thank you parents and teachers all over the country for what you do every day... Please support a community that welcomed me three months ago when steady work has not been available to me for two years. Send them prayers, love and donations through the link below, if you can.

This is a tough time during holiday season, a frustrating economy, and natural disasters that have affected too many of us in the Tri-State... Stuff is replaceable, these parents lost their angels, families lost their parents and friends. People are not replaceable, love is unconditional and memories, good or bad, are eternal. Time doesn't heal but for some reason traumatic events along the way bring out perspective and kindness that may be too hard to see when it is happening to your own family. We all have lots to do, inside ourselves, our homes, our schools and our governments. God Bless the families in Newtown! I am more than happy to serve them food and drink anytime and especially this Christmas Eve at The Inn at Newtown.Â
I just don't understand.
So usually, I don't go on and rant about everything that's been happening in my life, but the shooting in Connecticut just has me so upset. I don't get how someone can go and shoot 6 and 7 year olds. They didn't do anything, they are innocent. Think back to when you were that age. Did you even know how to curse? What a curse word was? These kids didn't know any better, they thought that they were going to school to see their friends, and just have fun. They never thought this would happen- no one did. These kids are never going to get the chance to graduate high school, go to their first high school party, fall in love, follow their dreams. That just devastates me, I can't seem to wrap my mind around any of this. I now found someone to live for- those kids. Every time I go to say that I can't, I'm going to think of each and every person in Newtown, and say that I can because they can. I am not a typically religious person, but the last few days I have found myself praying for everyone. I've never even met any of these people, but just like everyone else, they have touched me. No parent should ever have to bury their own child. Teachers should not have to be scared when they go to work, and parents shouldn't be scared to send their parents to school.Â
Being from Connecticut
and less than an hour from Newtown has made this recent tragedy hit really close to home. It is disgusting that that cruel man could go in there and kill innocent children with no mercy. Victoria Soto is a hero because of the way she protected her class and should be forever and always be respected. All of the staff of Sandy Hook made protecting the children their top priority while their own lives were second. One of my family friends is a police officer assigned to one of the families who lost a child. Everyone should have a place for Newtown in their hearts, but they should also remember all of the other tragedies as well. People are sick and seem to get more gruesome and have no remorse about anything. There have been two more shootings in the past few days and something has got to change.Â
