#prank call

you sit on the couch in your living room, phone in hand, trying not to giggle as you dial sae’s number. it’s late afternoon, and you know he’s probably just finished training, his schedule’s like clockwork. the prank idea hit you earlier while scrolling through dumb videos online, and you figured it’d be hilarious to mess with him a bit.

sae’s so serious all the time; maybe this’ll crack that stoic shell. you put the phone on speaker, set it on the coffee table cluttered with your half eaten snack and a couple of magazines, and wait for him to pick up.

the line connects after two rings. “yeah?” sae’s voice comes through. you can hear faint background noise maybe the locker room or the street outside the stadium.

you take a deep breath, forcing your voice to sound shaky and panicked. “sae? oh god. i’m so glad you answered. listen, something really bad happened. i got arrested.”

You prank call bakugou and tell him you stole something and now have to pay the consequences

A production assistant hurried past with a clipboard while another adjusted the lighting.

Across the room someone whispered, "Can somebody hide the boom mic? She keeps looking at it."

"I can hear you.”

Sheepish chuckles rippled through the studio as the cameras finally started rolling.

The producer spoke behind the camera as they directed you to pick a prompt from the box in front of you.

You leaned forward and grabbed the piece of paper. You opened it and read it out loud

“Call someone and tell them someone stopped you in the parking lot, accused you of stealing from them, and now they're saying they're calling the police.”

You looked up

“Oo that’s so evil.”

"It gets better," another producer chimed in, barely containing their smile.

"You have to admit you took it because you thought it was cute."

Your eyes widened in shock.

WHAT. Oh yall tryna get me cussed out.”

everyone erupted in laughter.

“Okay, i think I’m gonna call my boyfriend, bakugou Katsuki (aka Dynamight) just because I feel like he’ll have the best reaction.”

You go into your contacts and call him. You sat up straight as the phone rang before he finally he picked up

“I’m on patrol, what’s up.”

The gruff voice of the explosion hero echoed around the room.

“Heyy…are you busy?.” You responded, smiling at the phone while waiting for him to speak.

“A little. Why? Something wrong?”

You bit your nail before you spoke, something you didn’t realize you did when you were nervous.

"Um... maybe?"

"What happened?" Katsuki's voice sharpened immediately. The casual edge disappeared like someone flipped a switch.

"So... I was leaving Pilates.”

"...Mhm."

"And this lady came up to me in the parking lot and started yelling at me, saying I stole something from her."

"...What?"

You glanced toward the producers, who were already trying not to laugh.

"I-I told her I didn't know what she was talking about, but then she said she was gonna call the police if I didn’t give it back."

The silence on the other end somehow became louder.

"What did she say you stole?"

"...A keychain.”

"A what?"

"A little... plush keychain."

"You serious?"

"She said I took it from their display room.”

Across the studio, one cameraman had buried his face in his shoulder to stop himself from laughing.

Katsuki let out a long, dangerous exhale.

"Where are you."

"The Pilates studio parking lot.”

"Stay there."

"Katsuki—"

"No. Stay exactly where you are."

His tone was so calm it somehow sounded more threatening than if he'd yelled.

"I'm coming."

You blinked.

"Really? But you're on patrol."

"I'll have someone cover the area."

"Katsuki, it’s fine.”

"You think I'm gonna let some random idiot corner my girlfriend in a parking lot threatening to call cops?"

there was a brief silence trying to calm down before he spoke.

"You didn't take anything, right?"

...

"Y/N."

"...Well..."

"the hell does 'well' mean? Spit it out.”

Your eyes flicked toward the producers, as you covered your mouth.

“dont freak out but I kinda did but I didn’t think she’d notice.”

Bakugo went completely silent.

“Y/N ARE YOU DEADASS” he exploded

“whattt you can’t blame me. It was so cute.”

"THAT DOESNT MEAN SHIT.”

"It was pink..."

"I don't care. You can’t do that.”

You hear him take a deep breath as he spoke

“I’m gonna come get you now but next time, don’t pull this shit again. If you want something, tell me. I'll buy the damn thing."

One producer mouthed, Aww.

“Wait babe you don’t have to get me because this is a prank.”

You couldn't hold it anymore and burst into giggles.

“I’m sorry!”

[hangs up]

The room was laughing as you hurried to call him back

“Babe why’d you hang up.”

“You messing with me.”

“Im sorryyy, I’m with elle magazine doing the prank call interview.”

Another sigh came through the speaker, followed by what sounded like someone in the background asking if everything was okay.

"False alarm," Katsuki called to whoever it was. "I'm just dating a menace."
