🚗♻️ BYD expands recycled PP production for automotive parts
On Feb 27, 2026, BYD approved a recycling project with 100,000 tons/year capacity of recycled plastic pellets, including about 88,000 tons of recycled PP. These materials will be used to manufacture automotive components, forming a recycling → pelletizing → manufacturing closed loop.
In the automotive industry, EPP (expanded polypropylene) is widely used in protective parts and packaging. Because EPP belongs to the PP material family, it can be recycled into PP pellets.
Since foam is light but bulky, many companies start with an EPP foam densifier to reduce volume before pelletizing. This helps lower transport costs, reduce landfill fees, and turn waste foam into valuable recyclable material.
As automakers invest more in recycled materials, the pathway for EPP recycling continues to expand. 🌍♻️
