The force strikes back.
Yesterday was apparently National Bagel Day, with this 1944 news clipping from the Pottstown Mercury being featured by Newspaperscom on their instagram feed. It’s an Associated Press story in a Pennsylvania newspaper, so we can cut them some slack...but that still doesn’t explain the apparent ignorance of the NYPD about what a bagel was/is. The article appeared on February 15, so that leaves April Fools jokes out. Certainly the plural of “bagel” being “bagel” is a head-scratcher too. Kind of a fun image, though, imagining 1560 bagels being delivered by taxi.
