picture this: me, 2023, working at goodwill. morning shifts. get in at 8:30, store opens at 9. take my first 15 minute break (aka a soft 20) around 10:15. cross street. jaywalking but who's counting. dunkin in the shopping plaza. stone's throw away. staffed by 3 fresh high school graduates. never once seen a manager there. free iced coffees. daily. no quid pro quo to offer them, they're just bored. call it the plaza special. walk back to goodwill 5 minutes late from my break. hit my disposable weed vape to make the next 2 hours til my lunch break pass by. carry my coffee happily and slightly stoned-ly back to the registers.
