Some speculate that some dinosaurs may have survived even up into modern history, this is not impossible as crocodiles and sharks have done the same. Proponents of this theory point to Mayan architecture (pictured above and middle) appearing to show dinosaurs or the alleged Inca Stones (pictured right) which are widely believed to be hoaxes and appear to depict scenes of Inca peoples co-existing with dinosaurs. There are also a wide variety of historical accounts of people claiming to run into similar creatures including Pterodactyls and other large extinct creatures. Some suggest that the globe-wide mythology of dragons may trace its roots to surviving dinosaurs if not their remnants. Lake monsters such as the Loch Ness monster are also reported around the world and seem to resemble Mauisaurus, while reports of massive squids such as the Kraken of the Norweigan deep could relate to surviving Tusoteuthis. It is much more likely that ocean dwelling dinosaurs would survive and remain undetected than their land or sky dwelling relatives however one of the most intriguing cryptid reports comes from the Congo in Africa where skilled tribesmen capable of identifying all if not most of the surrounding wildlife tell tales of fear and loss at the jaws of a large lake dwelling creature resembling a long-necked dinosaur known as Mokele-Mbembe - “He who stops rivers” (pictured lower centre). The Hebrew accounts of the monsterous creature Behemoth describe it as having “a tail like a cedar” which has lead some to believe it is a description of a long-necked dinosaur.

We passed a police station (pics 1-2)!  Right now, we’re driving near the windmills again (the ones from yesterday).  

We’ve moved down to a less crowded lower viewpoint. The fog is slightly thinner down here. If you listen closely, you can hear the wind (it’s suuuuuuuuper windy!).

Our first store!  Aren’t all the kids' souvenirs just adorable (pics 1-2)?  The main area of the store looks like it’s mostly food (pic 3), and the wall closest to the street looks like more stuff for kids (pic 4).  I headed straight to the back, though, because it looked kind of like a pop-up area.  A lot of the stuff on the big table has to do with Hakodate Prison, like bags and wallets (pic 5), and cellphone cases (pic 6).  On the wall to the side, there are purses that are just Japan-themed (pic 7).  You have no idea how tempted I am to get one of the Hakodate Prison book covers (pic 8).  They have a large and small size, too.  However, I’m sure they would only fit my Japanese manga and, unfortunately, not even I can rationalize buying a book cover just for my manga.  Oh well.

Oh yeah.  And the bath was really refreshing, too.

Or maybe it’s so the servers can make sure guests are *cough* behaving *cough* themselves?  >.>
