Time for more wine now that the kiddos have both gone to sleep!  And check out the lavender-flavored tea from Furano, Hokkaido, that Barbara found for me!  Man, I wish I could’ve gone back to visit Furano this year.  I went for a day last year it was so so pretty (Furano is famous for its fields of flowers, especially lavender).
I don’t usually drink wine, but Barbara and Tomo have good taste!
The Triassic period also saw the development of early reptiles and mammalian pelycosaurs such as dimetrodon (pictured left) which are the earliest reptillian relatives of modern day mammals. The oxygen rich environment also enabled bipedal reptiles to develop into the first early dinosaurs.
As the ice age began to receed with a global warming of either solar origin or due to large creatures inhabiting the seas and land or perhaps due to plant expanse a wider variety of life was able to develop. The Triassic period marked the begining of plant life as we know it today with the development of palm trees, early ferns and mimosas it was also characterised by large insects able to grow huge in the oxygen rich environment including land scorpions the size of small dogs and Meganeura a type of prehistoric dragonfly that could grow up to 70cm long.
Wherever we were, everything was vibrant green. It was so pretty! Here’s a short video of the view I had from the car.

Now we’re at some store that’s apparently famous for its souvenirs (pics 1-3). From what I can see, it’s almost entirely food (pics 4-9). The only exception is this cute little bento tote bag and some exclusive $15 curry spoon (pic 10).
There’s a little boy fishing around for something in the creek and Kei really wanted to know what (turns out it’s these tiny little fish). She got all excited and went wading out into the water to try and catch one with her bare hands (she didn’t).
Look at the pretty sky!
