Let’s talk!  I’m revamping this blog for you guys for 2 reasons: This is my happy place AND this is your happy place too. This blog is growing and growing and guys, I remember when i celebrated getting to 400 followers. Wow. We’ve grown a lot since then yeah?

Here’s what’s changed so far.

1. I changed the blog theme! Just wanted to give the blog a little facelift and make things easier to read. You can check out the new blog here.

2. Taglists. You can check out more detail here, but in a nutshell, taglists are going by FANDOMS now, not characters. If you want to be on the taglist, you can message me directly or go here and fill out a google form.

3. Fic Requests. You can learn more here! Basically, I’m going to more selective in what i write and I am going to approve/reject fic requests.

~Post Scheduling~

I have done post scheduling before as per your (my followers) request, I tell you guys what I’m posting and when I’m posting it. I’ve done it different ways in the past, but I think I know what I’m gonna do this time around.

Every Sunday, I will make a post telling you guys what I’m posting and when I’m posting it for that week. I think it’s a better way to do it and it “clogs” your feed less than me doing it every other day. 

Now, there will be no ‘set’ schedule. Some weeks may change! I may post a lot one week, and may not post that much another week. I’m still getting my life together (yay being in your 20s?! Don’t worry I’m fine. I’ll do an introductory post and a life update post soon) But one thing is for sure - EVERY SUNDAY I will post the schedule.

Now, let’s talk about Shout Outs!

Ya’ll are VERY aware of my dearest and cutest best friend on here Kee ( @kee-writestrashh // @ascruelascunning) I stan her allll the time on here. And recently, I introduced you guys to @fourthlannister. 

I had a really disappointing and sad talk with a user on here in the past 3 days? She had a bad experience, and i want to keep what was said private between us for now.

But, I wanna make something clear: I am here to share my spotlight with you. I am here to celebrate fangirling and fandoms! And I want to celebrate you. I am in no competition with anyone on here. So, if you want a shout out, please feel free to ask me! I would love nothing more but to bring sunshine to people, especially writers who want more attention.

I'm gonna do as many posts as I can during the day!! However Request posts aren't going to start going out till 4pm (EST) but that doesn't Mean you can't request before then!! It just gives me time each day to make sure everyones requests look good!!

Lately Social Review: An Addendum

If you read my review of Lately Social (and I recommend that you do), you will remember that I could not highly recommend Lately Social because of issues with my posts failing. However, since I posted my Lately Social review all of my posts have been published successfully. 

I think I figured it out. 

I feel so silly. I switched to saving all of my files as .JPG files due to the file size limitations of the free version of Lately Social. And I think that has something to do with why my posts are successful now. 

I didn’t know this, but Instagram also has a post limit. Therefore, if your .PNG file is too big, Instagram won’t allow it to upload. 

So Instagram wouldn’t upload my .PNG graphics, which caused the posts to fail. It wasn’t Lately Social’s fault at all! Switching completely to .JPG files solved the problem completely. If you're having problems with your posts failing, check your file type! You might be having the same problem. 

I just wanted to set the record straight that it was human error that was the problem, not the platform. I can now safely recommend Lately Social for your social media scheduling needs.

It’s a third-party website that allows you to schedule content for your social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube, and Pinterest.

I decided to try it out for a two week period - exclusively for Instagram.

Have a Business Instagram Account? You Can Now Schedule Your Posts.

Are you a business that has been using third-party software to schedule your posts on social media? Good news, you can now do this for Instagram as well! In a blog post aimed at developers, Facebook yesterday announced several new changes to their API, the biggest of which allows business accounts on Instagram to schedule their posts.

Prior to this, post-scheduling, where posts were automatically uploaded onto the Instagram platform, was against Instagram’s use policy. Third-party developers who developed such software could have their access to the Instagram API revoked while businesses who made use of the software could have their Instagram accounts shut down. Businesses (and influencers) could only use third-party software to plan posts. Said third-party software would then send push notifications to them when the time came for the posting to be done. Users would then have to reply to the notifications in order for the post to be made to Instagram. With the new update, however, this intermediary step can be removed.

What This Means For Brands (and Influencers)

Simply put, you can now schedule posts ahead of time and have them posted to your account automatically.

Limitation I: Only available to business accounts

This is currently only available to brands who have business accounts on Instagram. This means that if you own a personal account, this update is currently not available for your account.

Does this mean you should switch to a business account now? Not so fast. Many users have speculated that Instagram reduces the reach of posts for its business accounts so as to encourage business account users to pay to boost their posts’ visibilities. While this (naturally) has not been confirmed by Instagram and no scientifically-credible experiments have been carried to test this out, drops in overall engagement after switching from personal to business accounts have happened frequently enough for Instagram users to become wary of making the switch themselves. This is despite Instagram providing useful Insights about post impressions, reach and profile views to its business users.

For those of us who can wait, Facebook has announced in the same blog post that post-scheduling (along with the other features announced) will be made available to personal profiles by early 2019.

Limitation II: Only available via third-party software

As Instagram has not developed an in-house post-scheduling function as part of the platform, brands (and influencers) must make use of third-party software to make use of the function.

This should not be too much of a limitation, since most brands already make use of services, such as Hootsuite, to schedule their posts on other social media platforms. As a matter of fact, Hootsuite has already updated its platform to offer the automatic post-scheduling function for Instagram.
