If you told him a few years ago that he would one day be the Commander of a massive ship, Humanityâs front lines of defense, Shiro wouldâve laughed. The  IGF Atlas,  first of itâs kind in Earthâs history, being a part of the Universe rather than an  untouched  outlier. He was proud. Proud to be itâs Commander and proud to be protecting Earth with it.Â
â  Commander Shirogane ? â  His attention was drawn to a young cadet, single stripe, fresh into the academy. A smile formed on his face seeing this. Humanity had just gone through what was itâs first  near extinction  and yet,... they were already ready to fight. Seeing such a young face giving their all to protect the people they loved was something heâd never get sick of seeing. â You asked to be alerted  IMMEDIATELY  when the head of Voltron awakened, Sir. â
â  Heâs up ? â The Cadet nodded, still in their salute. â Yes, Commander. â Shiro couldnât spare much more than a thank you as he motioned past the Cadet. His feet picked up speed under him as he trekked the path to the Garrisonâs Medical wing.  He couldnât get there fast enough,  his arms pumping, heart racing along with him just to get there. He was awake. Only deemed stable thirty eight hours ago. HE WAS FINALLY AWAKE.Â
Takashiâs hand caught him on the edge of a corner, slowing him down just enough to help him stop. His breath was slightly labored and his steps slowed to a speedy walk as he made his way towards Keithâs recovery room door. His heart was  still pounding when he stood before the door and he was recognized as an authorized visitor by the Garrisonâs security protocol. The door came open with a hiss and his eyes caught a mop of disheveled hair made even messier by white gauze.  â Breath caught in his throat now, his eyes stung something awful with stubborn tears at the sight. Shiroâs smile was  automatic,  heart slowly settling as relief washed over him, â Keith. âÂ
