It had always been rough on his own, but he hadn't thought it would be even rougher alongside someone else. But it turned out that the white-haired, younger male at his side was thoroughly intent on giving him a hard time. Jeez, for a young teen, he really was good at making deadlines, and sticking to them. As well, Jafar was dead set on making sure Sinbad kept to the deadlines, too. Today was no exception. "And yet again, you've failed to even get out of bed on time." Jafar shook his head, watching the older male. "You want to be a great adventurer, you need to learn how to plan ahead and stick to a schedule!" Sinbad groaned and slumped against the wall of the ship's cabin. "You're fourteen. Learn to be a kid, Jafar.." He replied. "At least one of us has to be responsible, Sin." Jafar sighed, glancing at the written schedule he'd tacked to the wall, right beside the eighteen-year-old Sinbad's head. "And if it's not going to be you, then it'll have to be me." "You sound like my mother." "Maybe that's a good thing. You-" The fourteen-year-old's words were cut off, as a massive black tentacle, encrusted with white armor plates, erupted from the sea. Sinbad quickly grabbed his scimitar, leaping forward toward the Grimm that even common people referred to as the kraken. The monstrous Architeuthid. Jafar snatched at the older boy's jacket, trying to hold him back. "Sinbad, don't-" But it was too late. He had leapt into the fight, slashing his scimitar deep into the monster's tentacle. It all happened in an instant. The sea demon screeched in pain, Sinbad was thrown into the air, and he hit the water hard, stunning him. "Sinbad!!" Jafar's scream seemed so distant now, as Sinbad sank beneath the waves. The Architeuthid shoved the ship, making it rock and nearly threw Jafar off as well, before the monster turned on Sinbad, two smaller tentacles near its beak stretching out toward him. He felt their grip, felt the oily appendages wrap around his body, and their cold touch was enough to yank him out of the daze. He screamed beneath the sea and fought against the kraken's grip. The beast tightened its hold, dragging him toward its open beak, ready to devour the boy. A splash from above, and Sinbad saw large chunks of rubble falling around them. What? Where had that even come from? Slowly, his vision began to fade, but he was conscious long enough to see a small, white-haired boy swimming fast through the water. Jafar.. And..what was he holding? Chains? Where had he gotten those? It didn't matter, as Sinbad saw his friend wrap the chains around the Architeuthid, and he blacked out.. When he finally awoke, he was back on board the ship, docked at what looked like a ruined castle. Jafar was nowhere to be seen at first, but the younger boy came around a corner and sighed. "You're awake.." He remarked. "How long was I out?" "Two days." "And the kraken?" "Chained to the ocean floor.. Buried in rubble. It won't be back any time soon, sorry I couldn't kill it, though.." Sinbad shook his head, and slowly sat up, hugging the younger boy close. "It's okay.." He murmured. "I was stupid.. I tried to kill it myself and it almost killed me.. I'm an idiot." "Sin.." "Thanks for being there to get me out of that mess.. I'd be dead without you." Jafar sighed and wrapped his arms around Sinbad, hugging him back. "Even if you fall.. I'll always be there to pick you up again.." He murmured. "I made a promise.."
