“Snowstorm” by guiltipanda ~ 1k words; very cute (told a bit through Veneziano’s perspective, so your friend will see what I mean if she reads it lol)

“Rain, Rain, Come Again” by sonyancat ~ 2.8k words; super fluffy and adorable

“Silence” by felovabriel ~ 1.4k words; starts a little angsty but turns sweet and fluffy with a super cute ending

“Four in the Morning” by VampireNaomi ~ 1k words; a mix of angst and fluff, ends on a cute note

“Christmas in Rome” by Azumeowth ~ 1.5k words; festive fluff

“It Wasn’t Supposed to Be a Date” by felovabriel ~ 5.4k words; exactly what the title says: funny, sweet, a little angsty, but mostly adorable with a happy ending

“Owned” by VampireNaomi ~ 800 words; short, funny, and cute

In today’s climate with all the over correctness and over awareness of not offending others…

We wouldn’t have gotten hetalia

A lot of content nowadays has become somewhat shapeless and stale in my opinion, with few daring to try something new or bold or try to push the boundaries.

Hetalia is a simple anime depicting history in a different way from what we were used to. It gives us (sometimes) useless trivia about different nations and I feel neither of the Nation characters come off as too offensive. In fact as a German I feel more seen by Germany and his quirks and personality than all of the other stereotypical Germans seen in western media.

Also with the useless trivia also comes these moments where we nod and relate to the scene because, yeah it’s true in one way or another! Honestly it’s that what makes me laugh the most.

What I’m trying to say is that sure, there are plenty of people that see the show as problematic but the way I see it, it’s that we have become very stiff in some ways.

It’s okay to laugh over ourselves when something is pointed out. And the show itself as well as Himaruya and the Manga never really made intentionally offensive jokes. It just made to point at everyone and laugh. And in a way to bring us together and laugh.

Here’s my list, all of these are on AO3:

1. “Between Hate and Something More” by SleepyMiya Status: Finished | Words: ~66k A super cute romcom-style fic with plenty of fluffy moments. If you’re in the mood for something light and sweet, this one’s perfect!

2. “Snowstorm” by guiltipanda

Status: Oneshot A short but sweet fluffy fic, told through Italy’s perspective, and no, I don’t mean Romano. You’ll see what I mean when you read it, lol. Definitely worth it!

3. “Hold On” by felovabriel Status: Oneshot A short angsty fic with a happy ending. It starts off a little heavy but ends on a hopeful, heartwarming note.

4. “A Cure to Insomnia” by SleepyMiya Status: Ongoing | Words: 100k+ Lots of angst from Romano in this one, but with some great comfort thanks to our favorite awesome Prussia! It’s still in progress, but already over 100k words. If you like long, emotional reads, give it a shot!

5. “A King’s Promise” by SleepyMiya Status: Ongoing | Words: 100k+ This one’s a bit different, it’s Prussia x the nyo version of Romano set in a medieval AU with historical touches (some accurate, some totally fictional). If that piques your interest, it’s definitely worth checking out. It’s got fluff, angst, comfort, romcom moments... honestly, it’s like a Disney fairytale in the best way.

6. “Seeing Is Believing” by VampireNaomi Status: Finished | Words: 100k+ A bit angsty with a lot of cute and funny scenes, too. Starts off with a strong enemies-to-lovers vibe and a very slow burn. The character development and relationship progression are written so well. Highly recommend if you like emotional rollercoasters!

7. “The Snowball Effect” by VampireNaomi Status: 2 chapters A short, intense little fic! Things escalate quickly, and you might find yourself thinking, “Did they really just do that?” But it ends sweetly and has a good mix of tension, humor, and a dash of emotional depth.

Honestly, if I kept going, this list would be endless. So I’ll just say: check out VampireNaomi’s AO3 account, she has tons of Prumano fics ranging from angsty to fluffy to even 18+ if that’s your thing!

Okay, I admit it... I might be just a little unhinged about Prumano, lol.
