Don't know why I'm feeling so down lately, must pull myself out of it. A few businesses are opening up in the port & there's a certain vibrancy in the air. I must say I miss the old palm tree (murdered by the evil weevil), but love the pebble mosaic in the centre of the square. Ended up having a coffee with friends at Allo in the port. Had forgotten the buses run only every 2 hours so got to the bus stop 90 minutes before the bus was due. There I was accosted by a most peculiar man who asked me all sorts of questions. My irritation was just about to turn into aggression when I was rescued by Graham. So I sat with him in Echo until the bus came. Back home now, I had thought I'd go out later, but decided to give it a miss. Walked down to the port & am having a coffee at Echo. It's peaceful here. Locals are sitting around with friends, relaxing before the season starts, taking a break from their pre-season chores. Down in the port of Ios. Had a lovely lunch with Robbie in Aphrodite & then got the bus back home. Bumped into all sorts of friends & had a chat, so have had my social hit for today. Sunset down in the port. Had a wonderful day: met up with friends at Aphrodite restaurant & had a lovely meal & get together. The restaurant was packed and a large group of locals were celebrating some occasion. One of them started playing a Greek instrument & a woman got up & danced - it was a great afternoon. Our table consisted of foreign born long timers, however we never felt excluded in any way. It's lovely to be able to mingle & feet welcome. On social occasions you may congregate in "tribes" but there aren't barriers or walls between us. It turned into a beautiful sunny day today & the wind has dropped, so I walked down to the port via the car road. Watched the Blue Star Delos arriving in the #portofios & then went for a coffee at Tropicana, sat outside & enjoyed the sun on my face. The best laid plans .... Aphrodite in the port was closed this weekend. And there was nowhere else on the island open at this time of day. Most disappointed, as were Sarah & Robbie. We ended up in Echo Beach having a few drinks & a chin wag together. Most enjoyable. However it meant I was ravenous when I got home. Had nothing to make a proper meal with, or rather I didn't feel like cooking, so made myself a toast & will try out the new juicer tonight. Bitterly cold out & extremely blustery, so won't venture out again. This is a pic of #aghiairene in the port.
