Small town reality. The draw of the big city is ever increasing, pulling young people and others in need of work into its thrall. Although there are those city folk looking for a "tree change", if it is not coupled with a genuine commitment to "shop locally" then the health of the small country town is at risk. I think sometimes the old school town folk resent the change and the new faces around. But without the conversion of some traditional shops to cater for the modern tastes of those with expendable income, the smaller towns will struggle. Nonetheless, there remains hope for cultural vestiges to survive, and evolve, as well as the opportunity for new populations to create new traditions in the ashes of the old.
