I think about this a lot, as well as the differences between each Branch in my two AUs, so I guess I'll split my thoughts about each of them! I feel like both versions of Branch are similar in the way that both of them were terrified to suddenly have the responsibility of a child thrown into the mix of their crazy lives. He is excited, but scared. And of course, Branch is very inexperienced when it comes to handling and raising kids.

For Normal Branch (or parentAU), his fear and anxiety stems from not feeling like he was ready for that right now. He and Poppy were deep into planning their wedding, settling their families into the villiage as well as having constant conversations deciding how they were going to handle their future royal affairs, as Branch was marrying a queen. Suddenly everything is offset when Branch realizes he wasn't under the weather due to stress, but because there was an egg. SO. That can be a lot. Even though he's rattled with anxiety, parenthood does come naturally to him as he lets the reality of the situation sink in. It's in this time where he becomes so vulnerable and seeks out advice from his brother. If anyone could comfort him and tell him he's got this, it would be Bruce. He is the only one Branch was comfortable enough to confide in.

PunkRock Branch is a bit more complicated. After feeling abandoned or failed by everyone around him, he left Pop Village and didn't look back. He raised himself and protected his heart to fiercely so that it would not be broken again. A wall was built, a wall that was very difficult to break down. Then he met Poppy, and with her eventually reunited with his family. But this Branch is very damaged and hurt by his circumstances and it took him much longer to accept his brothers back in. He'd spent so much of his life alone by choice that letting everyone back in again was an expert level task. Poppy softened him and over time he embraced his family but still had scars from the trauma he had endured. He became a father one year after he and Poppy married, and his excitement was immediately followed by the intense need to puke because...he knows nothing about being around kids how was he expected to RAISE one? Poppy was a huge help in comforting him and helping him learn what's to come. I can see this version of Branch having this sense of pride, where he found it difficult to ask his family for help and advice. He didn't feel ready, and Bruce noticed that in him and did his best to show up for him even though he didn't ask. Because he knows that Branch needs him. And Branch quietly and thankfully takes his advice. And of course he made some mistakes but he's lucky to have trolls who can steer him in the right direction
