Somewhere in the Eastern Kingdoms, secluded from many people, lied an average shack. Sitting on a chair outside was none other than the former druid herself, Peregrïn. She looked on the natural scenery, the sunset beamed onto her skin. She stared at a small flower in her hand, inspecting it’s vibrant colors and soft petals. Before, she could talk on and on about the flower in great details and gushing about how beautiful nature can be. Now, she saw it merely as a plant. She saw it only as something that is alive and wanted to be alive, even the sweet scent could not deter her conclusion.

She tosses it aside, and stared off into the distance. When there was nothing there of interest, she returned inside.

Inside the cabin, she is reminded of her past self. The collection of Elise Starseeker books that she only saw as something took up space... a lot of space actually. Her favorite doll, nothing more than a stitched up child’s plaything. Don’t get her wrong, she remembers how these items made her feel, how special they were to her. It’s a reason why she kept them. It’s mostly to remind her who she was before this...

Before she could brood, there was a knock on the door. She fell back to reality and opened the door to a bouquet of roses in her face. Her eyes widened in surprise, as behind those roses was a happy Khadgar. “Evening Perry! I’m sorry I came late, there was a problem with the Alliance and Horde about some territory. Anyways, how have you been?”

She blinked a few of times at the roses, and looked back at Khadgar, “Fine... what’s the occasion for these?”

“No reason, just thought you’d enjoy a little surprise.” After handing the flowers to her, he walks over to the kitchen to get a vase ready. “So what have you been up to today?”

“Reading, Gardening, nothing more.” She answered. Perry stared at these flowers with confusion. Here she held these flowers, no different than the other ones she’s seen today, and she felt something about them. She felt a warm tingly feeling in her chest, which only grew when she smelt them. 

“...ry? erry? Perry?” Perry snapped out of it, darting her head to Khadgar now holding a vase half full of water. “Are you alright? I know death knights can’t get sick but you seem distracted.” Perry placed the flowers in the vase, and looked up at Khadgar. “Fine just... was looking at the roses. They’re lovely, thank you.” 

Khadgar gave a bright smile, hearing that Perry enjoyed his gift. “No problem Perry, I’ll prepare dinner and wash up.”

That night Perry sat on the couch, wide awake, starring at the ceiling. She kept pondering on what made her feel so... happy? Was that what it felt like? It had been so long since she felt what happiness was, let alone what she felt today. Was it that intoxicating? Why did she only feel it when Khadgar... Khadgar... She started getting lost in her thoughts as she was reminded of all the things Khadgar had done for her over the years. The gifts, the dates, the marriage, she hadn’t notice a soft smile crept up her face.

She snapped out of it, and decided to do a little experiment to be really sure if her hunch is correct...

Perry sneaked into their room that night, and saw her sleeping husband. He looked so peaceful sleeping. She quietly and carefully moved to the bed, not wanting to make a sound to disturb him. It is very unfortunate that sneaking was NOT one of the abilities that she could do anymore. She kept causing creaking sounds from every wooden plank she stepped on. It was after the fifth one that Khadgar woke up.

“Who... Who’s there?” He asked groggily. Clearly being asleep before now.

Perry stood completely still and silent, thinking she could somehow not be noticed by him.

With a flick of the wrist, a small ball of light illuminated the room. It revealed everything in there. “Perry? What are you doing here?”

Perry stood there, as silent as the grave. She turned her head from Khadgar, not wanting to make eye contact with him. She has now rediscovered the feeling of embarrassment. “...Nothing.”

“...Really? Nothing at all?” Khadgar’s eyebrow raised, as he could still tell that Perry was still a terrible liar.

She sighed, giving in. “I wanted... to... lay in the same bed as you...” She rubbed her left arm, still not making eye contact with him. “The flowers today... I felt something nice, and I felt it more when I thought about all the time we spent together... so I thought-”

“Say no more.” Perry looks over to him from the sudden interruption, he held the blanket up for her. “C’mon, I missed my wife accompanying me into bed.” He invited.

She lays in the bed. The heat from her partner was astounding, but it was actually quite comforting. As the ball of light dimmed to darkness, she was being held close by Khadgar. Her lovers embrace began to have another smile to grow on her face again.

“Goodnight Perry, my one and only. I thank the lights everyday that I got you back in my life.”

Soon enough, she felt something falling off her face. It was tears. “Goodnight Khadgar, I love you, even in death I still love you.”
