En una cruda pero necesaria visión sobre el mundo del arte, Nathaniel Kahn narra como el mercado se ha encargado de transformar la obra de arte en algo frío y banal. Es fascinante este documental porque a partir de distintas opiniones da forma a un mundo que pocos conocen y que deja a muy pocos jugar el juego. Especulación, precios millonarios y estrategias de marketing son algunos detalles que muchas veces se ignoran cuando se habla sobre el mercado del arte pero que son muy importantes al momento de poner a la venta dichos objetos de gozo.
Una de las cosas más interesantes son las palabras de una de las jefas de Sotheby’s, Amy Capellazzo, al recordar y describir la primera vez que encontró arte en su vida.
Dice sobre Dynamism of A Dog on a Leash (1912) de Giacomo Balla : “Cuando tengo un mal día, veo esta pintura en google y todo mejora”
Este es un documental que es un must para todxs lxs que trabajan en el mundo del arte y a veces sienten la presión del éxito o de los precios millonarios. Jeff Koons es un cínico pero hace excelente arte, Marylin Minter es increíble y brillante y es de las más honestas con respecto a su trabajo. También conocer la opinión de coleccionistas que son adictos a arte de post guerra es muy importante, muchos tienen más sensibilidad de lo que uno cree y terminan siendo en realidad gente interesante pero al mismo tiempo, tienen maravillosas obras de arte en privado. Esto es todo lo que “La burbuja del Arte Contemporáneo” quería comunicar y nunca pudo por ser un documental tendencioso y conservador. Aunque a veces se siente un poco pesimista el ambiente, siempre estará Jerry Saltz para recordarnos porque es importante seguir adelante sin importar que pase. It’s a Cold World.
