Personality: She’s a petite wisp of a thing, and on the surface her personality reflects that. She’s shy and quiet, timid at times, her wide eyes taking in far more than she comments on. With those she’s close to, she’s sweet and affectionate. Part of her drive to please people comes from her past, but naturally she’s is legitimately caring and compassionate, with an inborn empathy that makes her gentle and sympathetic to the struggles of others.

There’s more beneath that naive surface. She might come across as an ingenue, but that belies the sharp intellect that lurks beneath. Phaedra’s a quick study, able to discern patterns and motives if she puts her mind to it. She’s a survivor, and she’s stronger than she’ll admit to herself. One of her most useful attributes has been her ability to adapt, to change herself to fit the situation she finds herself in. There’s depths to her that she hasn’t begun to explore; she’s locked them away, her curiosity tempered by fear. But as she’s coming of age, it’s becoming harder to deny that she’s more than soft and demure.

History: Phaedra wasn’t born a Salveggio. It’s unusual—a witch, the adopted daughter of a werewolf, especially in times like this. But she’d say it’s the only life she’s ever known. She was rescued as a child from a group of hunters who were using her for her powers, and the wolf who found her fought to keep her within the pack, knowing that she had nowhere else to go. Slowly, he became a father to her, and the pack became a family—most of it at least. Some of them never became comfortable with having a witch in their midst, taking their cues from their Alpha, who while she was never cruel to Phaedra, also never accepted her as a real part of the pack.

There was some calls to have her returned to a proper coven when she was a young teenager, but though the Alpha considered it, her adopted father wouldn’t hear of it, putting his foot down and insisting she stay. Phaedra was grateful for this—the wolves are the closest thing to family that she remembers, and ever since her time with the hunters she’s been wary of humans, mistrusting them. She doesn’t remember being with other witches at all, though it stands to reason that she had to have a family once Even once she turned eighteen, she showed no signs of wanting to leave the pack that had taken her in, opting instead to stay with them, working as a healer for the pack and their allies.

Though she’d been given every opportunity to pursue other interests, it’s healing that she’s always seen as her calling. It comes as naturally to her as breathing, and she’s worked to hone that skill as much as she can. Her other powers are either absent or neglected. Her other pursuits mostly revolve around the academic: she’s a quick study for languages, collecting them one after another with quiet determination born as much from curiosity as any real need.

Personality: Maya’s always been a fighter. She’s willing to stand up for her what she thinks, and has in the past been a bit rash to make judgements, though as a leader she attempts to not let that affect her as much. Her heart is her family and her pack, and she’s constantly attempting to protect them. She’s loyal, but also stubborn, and can be slow to admit when she’s misjudged a situation or made a mistake. While she can be cool-headed and capable as a leader, when it comes to her personal life she’s far less put together. Relating to people has been difficult ever since she became the alpha, and she tends to just not try at this point, keeping a cool distance. Her sense of duty is strong, as is her desire to prove herself. She keeps all her doubts and insecurities tight to the chest, not letting anyone see her as anything other than a confident leader.

History: Maya St. Romain grew up as pack royalty. She was the alpha’s favorite granddaughter, taken in at a young age and raised as his own. He realized her aptitude for leadership by the time she was a young adult, and started grooming her to one day become alpha in her own right. He didn’t go easier on her because she was his family—if anything, he was tougher because he knew that she could be great and thought that being soft with her would be a disservice. And his training worked. Maya’s very young for an alpha, but on the whole she’s been successful.

She never expected to take the position this young. She’d thought she had decades in front of her to prepare, but then a war started. And the man who raised her was dead. Filled with grief and uncertainty, but also with the solemn determination not to let anyone else take this from her, she won the challenges, took over as alpha, and tried to lead them through a war that was quickly going off the rails. They put up a heroic fight, but after the witches surrendered, they were just outnumbered—and their numbers were dwindling every moment.

Personality: As of right now, Nico could easily be described as a gentle giant. He is large and imposing with a deep voice and a glare to make anyone cower, but he has a laugh on his lips most days and the smile he offers lights up his face. He’s warm and calm. He’s often happy and laid back. When he’s working, he’s soft and kind. The kids mellow him out and give him a reason to be something he never was. Human.

While he is kind and gentle, there is also a savagery about Nico that most see. It’s why they shy away from the glare. They don’t understand his savagery nor do they know the kind of man he truly is, but they know It’s still there. He’s still the warrior he’s always been but he lacks the war to channel that need. He wants to be fine with that, but living on the line of neutrality is creating within him an ache. The wars he fought, the sides he stood on were all for the little people. He was a good guy but he’s left it all behind. If you chose no side then you chose the side of the oppressor.

History: 500 years is a long time to live. 500 years means a lot of things done and even more things seen. Not much is forgotten in that time but a lot is learned. Survival is the greatest skill of all when it comes to natural selection. If there is one thing Nicoli Salveggio knows better than anything, it’s survival. He has been many things in his numerous lifetimes and he has done and seen many horrors that would put weaker men to shame. He has none, though. While he is not proud of what he has done, he is not ashamed because, in the face of adaptation or death, he did what he had to.

Born in a remote area of the world no one even remembers the name of, Nico grew up in a typical family for the time but his family was anything but typical. In a settlement of farm hands and hard-working folk, the Salveggio’s were the only hunters of the land and the only ones to bear the wolf gene, his family was one of a kind. While the villagers tilled the land and planted the crops, his father hunted. The best the town had ever seen and he did it all by himself. They never asked how and the how was never offered up. The town fell on hard times as so many did back in those days. Nicoli was the youngest of 7 siblings and the only one to reach the age of wolf maturity. One by one disease and the elements took his siblings from him yet he persevered.

When he was of age and his first shift finally happened, he gained the strength and the ability to heal. His father, leader of their little pack taught him everything he knew, but Nicoli was not very good at listening and he wanted to see the what was beyond the borders of his village. Not a difficult task to be had considering the wars of villages around them had started to bleed into their lands. He took up arms and defended his land and village before moving south and into other territories. Nicoli found something he was good at that wasn’t just hunting for food to sell to other villagers. Nicoli was good at fighting and killing. He was good at using his bare hands to take what needed to be taken and end what needed to be stopped. For years he moved around, adapting to his new surroundings and learning how to survive. Wars came and went and with it Nico followed. His hands are covered in the blood of wars long since past and not so long past.

Red is a color he is used to seeing on his hands.

Even now, years after he’s hung up his title as a warmonger and hired guns, red is a color that stains his knuckles. He’s a warrior at heart and always will be, but he spends his time teaching and not killing now. When he needs the taste of blood coating his tongue and the feel of bone breaking under expertly thrown punches, he finds himself in the gym working over the punching bags or in a few of the sparring rings training a new class of warrior for the pack. The taste for blood is a strong desire that he’s never been able to fully walk away from, the pack he lives with now is docile, almost house trained. It’s an unfortunate side effect of letting fear rule them. He understands it, though he does not like it. Their dwindling numbers and their adult to children ratio heavily influence how much they can achieve, but one day that will all change.

Personality: Roman is headstrong, serious, and most would say more than a little intense. Reserved to the point of standoffishness, others often feel judged for not measuring up to his high standards but the truth of the matter is that no one suffers more for his unreasonable expectations than he does. Though he continually challenges himself to master new skills and try new things, he is impatient and does not cope well with the occasional inevitable failure or defeat.

He’s a hothead and a sore loser but alarming as his sudden outbursts can be, those close to him generally see a different character. On the daily, Roman is shrewd and protective, priding himself in being someone others can depend on. He is fiercely loyal to his adopted pack and does his best to exemplify their ideals of leadership and honor. He’s not without a sense of humor but his smile is a rarity, usually only making an appearance when others least expect it but need it most.

History: Roman is a born wolf and one of the only surviving members of the now defunct Canadian Pack, which relocated to New Orleans shortly before Savoie debacle and the resulting purge. His parents (alpha Liam and den mother Sonya, respectively) moved the pack to escape a pestilential war for territory that had claimed too many of their members and now threatened their only child. Unfortunately, after just three peaceful years in the United States, their small clan was targeted by hunters. His parents were killed in one of the very first ambushes, after holding off the attackers as long as they could so that others had a chance to slip away.

Like many other orphans of the time, Roman was eventually adopted into the Pontchartrain Pack, which withdrew from the city and regrouped in the Bayou Sauvage. It is there that he learned how to be a wolf, and a man. Though he was a rambunctious, competitive, willful child, he matured quickly to give back and pull his own weight. He became the defender of smaller, weaker packmates that were often overlooked in the chaos of the pack house. He also cultivated an unlikely but much-needed talent for technology, which he’s since developed into a valuable tool for monitoring happenings within the city and keeping the pack connected to the world at large.

Personality: Clara is a quiet, pensive soul who keeps to herself as much as possible, but is always willing to impart advice onto those that seek it. Among the pack she has earned the name 'Grandmother’ – her face may barely age, but she has the soul of an Elder and she affectionately looks after the younger pack members. She still follows the traditional Cree way of life as best she can in her in this new modern world, living off of the land and feeding from the animals who dwell in the woods and swamps around her. Should anyone brave the trek through the bayou where her shack is she always has an open door and a fresh pot of tea waiting.

History: Clara hadn’t always been her name. Once, long ago under a North Dakota sky, she’d been called Running Fox in the language of her people, the Cree. She knew the prairie, knew the horse and the buffalo. She knew the eagle and the bear, she knew the songs that lifted to the stars and to the Creator. She knew the seven sacred rites and most importantly of all she knew freedom. That was her first life and the one she held most dear in her heart.

That life, however, came to an end when the pale men from the east came on their ships and decided that they had ownership of the land that had nurtured her and her people for thousands of years. War, disease and the white man’s government saw her people scattered to the winds, either hiding in oppression or else giving up their Native identities to assimilate in this cold new world. There was anger in Clara’s heart and she, along with others of like mind, sought out an old power to take their revenge. There were those among their people with the blood of the wolf, a gift from the moon and the earth mother that could be passed to those worthy of it. Clara was indeed worthy and she took the blood of the werewolf in earnest. For years she and her pack mates would exact bloody vengeance on those they decided had wronged them, but as the years went by the bitter realization that they were fighting a losing battle took hold. Age often grants wisdom and they realized that violence only begets more violence in the great wheel of time and so their band dissolved and the wolves went their separate ways.
