#polymorph incarnate

After learning more I do think the polymorph definition doesn’t need to specify energy beings, among the other notable characteristics (amorphous, essence-shifting, mirroring instinct).

I still feel that the initial description was really important to have and should be kept (“starstuff”), ‘cause that helped me, so it stands to reason it could do the same for others. I just don’t think it needs to only include that now, I think there should be more descriptions given on “trueforms” (or whatever you personally call yours, I like baseforms best tbh, since we (nova) don’t have a form that’s “most true”).

Idk if that’s explanatory enough...let me elaborate.

There are physical and nonphysical polymorphs—and again, I’m referring to us amorphous essence-shifters, not general polymorphic beings—I know that for certain now. I had never met any before, but like I said in the past, I am happy to discuss changing the definition regarding baseform varieties. I think that having descriptions for the other baseforms would be really helpful for those still questioning, like how the original “starstuff” one helped me.

Hopefully that makes sense.

*Sigh* anyway, for disclaimer-y reasons, since I’m leaving this without a do not reblog, here’s this:

1. I’m not saying other polymorphic beings don’t exist or something, or “there’s only the one kind of polymorph and that’s us,” I’m just not talking about other polymorphic creatures here.

2. I’m not acting as if I have any actual say over the definition of polymorphs—again, the kintype—I’m just saying I personally think it should include more baseform types, since I’ve come to learn there are other amorphous essence-shapeshifters. I’d like all polymorphs to find themselves and friends who can understand, and I know how hard that is even as one who has a baseform description, so I think the others should have that at least, too.

3. I’m really not interested in fighting, y’all. If you want to I probably won’t reply, but we may be able to have a discussion?

4. Regarding the description/definition of us, I’m referencing the “polymorphs” page on eristic .net.

As a polymorph, my senses and cognitive capabilities are/were* extremely heightened, especially compared to my vessel’s, so when it comes to memories the differences are striking, and makes it easier to differentiate between those two. I can’t conjure up imagery or sensations in my human mind to any degree near my polymorph one. The colors lack the same energy, details are impossible to visualize with the same overwhelming clarity, ect.

To summarize, this means that my polymorph memories are affected by that species’ senses. This is something I keep in mind when I’m working with this sort of thing. If there are differences between your kintype and how you experience things now, pinpointing those discrepancies can lead to tools to assess your memories with.

I also like to remember the expression: seeing the world through rose-colored glasses. The lenses you see life through can be very different emotionally, morally, and so on, depending on the personality and history of your kintype. These things dictate the “color” you used to see things in, so to speak.

For example: In one of my lives I was strongly pragmatic and closed-off, I saw the world around me through a survival-first mentality, and so keeping that framing in mind has helped me to place the fragments of memories I have from that life.

Though, because my incarnations generally follow certain themes, things can blur together, thus noting any inconsistencies between them is essential for me to be able to separate my lives from one another. It also means tracking overlapping similarities can be necessary to make any progress at all organizing memories.

And that’s it for my rambling at the moment.

Sometimes I think about how my nova anatomy works and I really want to write about it, but I have no idea how to explain the experiences in any way a human brain could relate to, given it’s limitations.

I want to talk about how it feels to be multiple selves, while also being just me. Being us. How it feels to be in a hundred different places because we can separate, experiencing different things at the same time, and conscious of them all. Not confused, not overwhelmed, because this is just how we function. I want to write about being able to see without eyes, from countless different Aspects, whenever I wanted. Whenever we needed. To understand and organize my mind, memories, feelings, everything, with complete awareness. Memories go here, memorized information goes there, I can find anything I want, trace it back through all my experiences, or put it away for now, get rid of it, give it to someone outside of us.
