The public has observed a deep racial divide in perceptions of polices’ performances. With the collection of articles in this virtual issue, published by Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, three broad themes of policing research are reflected: research on the symbolic representativeness of the police and citizen perceptions; police behavior; and management of police organizations.
