I fucking hate pumpkins. Anything that kids carve stupid pictures into during Halloween and jam a candle into as decoration probably shouldn’t be consumed or turned into a beer but here we are. I also hate fucking pumpkins. The flesh doesn’t really give enough or soften up so it basically just ends up peeling the skin off my… I’ve said too much. Ummm, yeah I mean, those pumpkin beers am I right?! I think I played that one off pretty well. This is my final crowler of Point Ybel’s brews and it’s a pretty good way to go out and I’ll definitely be searching out more of it ASAP. For a guy that genuinely hates pumpkin and usually is not a fan of pumpkin beers what-so-ever I have to admit, I actually like this beer. I’m not sure if it’s because they used those orange devils perfectly or if the other additions hide the pumpkin that well but this beer just works for me. The graham crackers and vanilla really start things off with those flavors shining bringing an initial sweetness to this before the cinnamon and nutmeg spices join the team before ending with a light pumpkin and vanilla flavor with a balanced sourness that delivers just the right amount of pucker. Before tasting this beer I would have loved to hire a bunch of misfits to go to pumpkin patches nation wide and destroy those disgusting orange testicles but now I’m having second thoughts about it. If you are looking for a solid fall beer to get you through your endless hours of raking leaves, let this beer be the one because it is super sessionable at it’s 4.3% ABV and has some interesting flavors going on. For you pumpkin haters like myself out there, give this a chance. Just do it. Trust me. Thanks.

Let me start off by saying that this was a tough one to review. Point Ybel was awesome enough to send me 3 crowlers of their finest brews and to start things off, this one is a doozy. I was REAL close to giving this a 9 but since it’s the first of the reviews I’m going to be doing for them (for now), I’m going to start with an 8.5. Now as far as the name goes, what the fuck is a snook? Are they just fucking with me and replacing the A in snake with two Os and removing the E? In that case, this beer is fucking oowesome. I reoolly enjoy it’s floovor oond it’s ooroma. You need to tooste this oomoozing brew OOSAP. Wait, a snook is a fish? All that was for nothing? Damn. Oh well. As you may or may not know by now, I absolutely hate swimming in any large body of water that isn’t a pool and a bite from a snook is just another reason I stay on dry land. If I was guaranteed to be chomped on by this beer instead of the fish, maybe I’d dip a toe in but unfortunately crowlers don’t nibble so I’ll just stick to drinking it. This has a massive mango hop flavor to start things off with a nice mix of bitter and sweet before some floral hops mix in with some grapefruit and more bitterness before all blending together and slightly sweetening up to close. Honestly, I didn’t expect the flavors I got to come out of this beer because it tastes way more like a hazy juice bomb than the golden liquid that sits before me. If you are a fan of the hop or are looking for your next brewery to visit while visiting Fort Meyers, Florida, make sure it’s Point Ybel because the Snook Bite IPA alone is enough of a reason to check these guys out. For those trying to sink their own teeth into their first IPA, Snook Bite is a great start because of it’s fruity hop additions and balanced flavor. Now get out there and bite back!

Hmmmm, this one was a tricky one. It took me a full glass of this brew to finally give it a rating and honestly, I still don’t feel too good about it. I started at a 9 and slowly worked my way to an 8 and if you were to ask me why I’d simply reply, “No fucking clue”. I’ve seen my fair share of hazy IPAs but never before have I seen a hazy red ale but that is exactly what sits before me. This is about as far from an actual red ale as you can get while still be considered part of the style kind of like Sandra Bernhard is the closest you can get to actually being Squidward while still staying in the human race. She is awful right? Right. This has a super strong floral hop flavor with a decent bitterness before a heavy alcohol flavor mixes in letting that 9.3% ABV shine bringing a sweetness with it all leading up to a malty and hoppy mixture to close. It’s beers like this that make me realize that maybe 32oz of a 9.3% beer might not be the best of ideas but I’m always up for a challenge like that time that I successfully waxed Josh Hartnett’s unibrow… yeah, that was me. You’re welcome. Anyways, if you are looking for an amber ale that basically takes the formula for the style and completely transforms it into something new, snag a crowler of this and take the rest of the day off because you’ll need it. As for the newbie dewbies, this is going to be way too boozy and powerful for your puny buds but keep at it and work you’re way up. Prost!
