all my everything is tied up in 5 years ago when i hear Animal Shapes

i’m young and so hopeful and poor

i have nothing to lose and i’m alive

at the time, i didn’t know it

there is this sad hopeful happiness in it 

and now it’s still there but 

farther and through a fogged glass sheet

infinite along the x axis – i’m just looking through 

at myself in the living room, dancing alone

no furniture

summer nights in colorado

i wore shit clothes 

it was easy. i drank shit beer.

you remember your body a letter in a pile on your desk from your best dead friend

it’s been ages since you saw it there are quiet signs of dust signs of plants and insects atoms. photons

nevertheless you reach for it

this body it cracks. you gasp there is sunlight

your body is gone

you realize you’re the top 400 feet of the ocean
