I had one of the most heart opening interactions around this picture at @libfestival last weekend. How many people know that #PocketUnderground started the #WoogieStage and managed it for almost a decade? When #LIB moved to Santa Barbara in 2006, Pocket was so much at the heart of the LA Burning Man house music scene that @thedolab reached out to them to create a stage. Under the guidance of @pocketsammy and Jessy Wright, the woogie grew to what it is today. Pocket was home to such amazing DJs as Pumpkin (@pumpkinsounds), and the DJ here, @djCodyLee, was one of the founders. I've seen Cody spin with Pocket since I first moved to LA in 2004. I've seen him play Spundae, and tons of other events around LA, but last Thursday he was on fire. The crowd was going crazy for him, and I was excited to get him a memory. He had said he was really going to let loose, and they loved it. On Friday I came up to him and said "you won the DJ lottery. I have such an amazing picture for you!" He was instantly excited... When I pulled out the picture to show him, with the excitement of the crowd, and his hands in the air, he literally started jumping for joy, said "Oh my god!" And gave me one of the most strongest and heartfelt hugs I've ever received from another man. When he pulled away, he literally had a tear in his eye and said "I've been waiting my whole career for a photo like this." I said "you deserve it, I've been waiting 15 years to see you play like that β€" That's one of the things I'm so grateful for about #LIBfestival and our burner friends. We support our growth as artists so much. So many have got their start through The Do Lab, or other burner projects, and it's one of the main reasons I started photography, because I love supporting our friends, and getting them photographic proof of how amazing they are. Cody, I'm so happy I could capture this for you, you deserve it. Keep channeling that amazing energy that let you let it all out β€ And @joshflemming, @jesseflemming, @dedeflemming, thank you for keeping the dream alive supporting the creativity of so many of our friends. And @patriciobeats thanks for keeping LA represented with the amazing Favela! (at Lightning in a Bottle) https://www.instagram.com/p/BxlMXk6BXLW/?igshid=1mb9eioufatjx
