He teaches baby Johnny to speak French and recognize classical music composers. He lets Littles listen to classic rock and punk and say swear words! He once spent an entire day painting a mural with Johnny and they only ate takeout for a week once. He cooks seven course meals and Johnny likes escargot. He says any kid can wear any clothes they want and wears skirts that Johnny likes to play in. They go to every art museum in the country and George once got super into classic arcade games and bought a pinball machine for their house. They once rehabbed an injured duck in their bathtub. Hodgson buys the really expensive Star Wars Lego Miellenium Falcon and they build it on their table and then eat sitting on the floor in front of the TV.

Hodgson is such a moving target of energy and interests and everyone thinks he’s going to be a terrible caregiver but it works and Johnny, uptight and very structured as an adult, thrives with such a relaxed and laissez faire parenting style.

Hodge would also buy at least one of those giant 20k+ jigsaw puzzles, disassemble it right after finishing it, just to build it again next year. They have one chandelier that cost an arm and a leg in the kitchen and another they made from wires, glue and paper in the livingroom. Hodge dedicated a whole entire wall just for pictures of them. Some horrible selfies, some professionally taken photos, but all framed, with dates written in the corner with a glitter gel pen.
