I sewed a pirate shirt to wear to the @newyorkrenaissancefaire for my birthday yesterday! I followed @morgandonner's updated Elizabethan shift tutorial! I made a couple changes - pleats instead of gathers, as little hand sewing as I could manage, and hip-length instead of floor-length - but otherwise followed it pretty closely! For a first ever sewn garment, it turned out great! I’ve been sewing a little.

With all the Frankie excitement I forgot to post a picture of this second Dress No. 1 from @100actsofsewing of sewing that I made. This time I still sized up most of the pattern, but not the shoulders/arm openings. I actually chopped off about two inches from the top and it fits a lot better than the first. Sadly this crinkle rayon from Joann’s frayed like crazy, ejected all my pins, and snagged within 5 minutes of putting the dress on. But at only $6 a yard it was perfect to practice with. Progress on my #v8772 shirt. I made an 18 in the bust and graded out to a 22 in the hips and added a in #FBA. It’s still a tiny bit snug around the bust and the back. I’m going to do a 1.5 inch FBA and hope that fixes both problems. If not I’ll reduce/remove the back darts too. 😪 #sewing #sewcialists #plussizesewing #fullbustadjustment #muslin

Isolation sewing - a Made by Rae Bianca top. Super-simple to sew and also cute... I’m going to have to make more of these.
