After him having spent his childhood in a pseudo-camo vest, Jared's parents feared the worst when the boy hit his pre-teens. But what walked out of the house that morning was just a lanky kid.

Peggy: "Hi, neighbor! I heard someone turned eleven! Found your vibe?"

Jared: "No. And I don't bother with that either. I'm just a regular dude."

Peggy: "Tine, this is my next-door neighbor, Jay. He's The Normal Kid."

Justine: "Oh, wow! Creative! I don't know anybody our age who's normal! Uh... that came out not like I heard it in my head."

Justine: "So tomorrow you'll be a pre-teen."

Peggy: "How's that different from today? I won't even change school..."

Justine: "Well, you need to be known by your vibe. Like, I'm the Serious kid."

Peggy: "Yeah. I'm the super-popular kid."

Justine: "No, not like that! The queen bee and the nerd are our schoolyard roles. Vibes go so much deeper! They describe everything we ARE."

Peggy: "But I am nothing complicated. I just want people to be happy."

Jared Dameron came over the night before Peggy's birthday (she will grow up at 7 am). It is rare for townies to come to my households' doors, but Jay just had to come and say goodbye.

Jared: "I could be your friend, Peggy!"

Peggy: "I don't know..."

Jared: "We spend more time together than we do with anybody else and we tell each other everything and have similar interests and our parents are close, too, so why shouldn't we be friends?"

Peggy: "Because we're neighbors, Jay. That's just what neighbors do. I don't think it counts."
