Batman, eat your heart out.

Since I belong to a playground-themed camp at Burning Man, I decided to bring a bit more playground-related things with me this year.  

All burn projects are a labor of love, and this was no exception.

I was invited to a small Burner gathering in the woods in NH, and my contribution was building, bringing, and burning the weekend’s effigy, which was a flat-pack 8′ tall mushroom.

I designed it to fit into my car (along with all my other camping gear), and to be assembled efficiently (30 minutes with four people and two drills!).  Also I shot fireworks off of the mushroom tip platform.

It was my absolute pleasure to work at Camp RSM this year, the Russian Math Camp where I spent majority of the summers in my youth.

I taught woodworking for two weeks, and let me tell ya: boy did I miss teaching.  And let’s not forget large project collaboration.  As mentioned in the Swing Set project, I was collaborating with TurboMasala, the superpowered creative duo of Nikita and Anastasia whom I adore so much.

Their Laser Lab class and my Woodworking class collaborated to create this permanent “Burner” installation at Camp, where my class learned about framing, construction, and basic woodworking, and the laser cutting class learned about digital design and implementation.

The latest LED bracelet experiments.  It’s only going to get weirder.
