I am a dirt bag, too. I am going to use a word that will get me kicked out of this publication again and again. That word is --- suit. A suit is a walking iconic symbol of class and caste. I have never worn a suit in my life. I do not know how to tie a tie because I have never tied one to my strangulated neck. The democratic insiders who hate Graham Platner are professional suits. I know I will see Platner someday dressed in a suit. His standing in my eyes will go down ten notches. I know that will happen and I am preparing for it. The suits will eat Platner alive. I am tired of reading New York Times columnists who keep telling me that people like me are stupid. I would argue that you need to read up on Joseph Campbell: The Hero's Journey. The story of the man or woman who, through great suffering, reached an experience of the eternal source and returned with gifts powerful enough to set their society free. It's just a story. There is no such thing as just a story. The faces on the professional democrats are angry and guarded. "Shut This White House Down." I would go a whole lot more than that. Bury the mechanisms of the institution in the very psychic hole in the earth this system has created. I am a nobody who is trying to hold water in his hands. The professional democrats are not working people. Not everyone is like them. They seem clinically depressed. "For within the hollow ground that rounds the mortal temples of a king keeps death his court." I am a dirt bag, too.

With his experience in the firm of Eero Saarinen and Associates, it is not surprising that the mantel for the second generation of pedestal and wire furniture fell on the creative shoulders of Warren Platner. Reflecting a dramatic shift in cultural values, modernism became more expressive in the 1960s. Platner felt there was an opportunity to merge the competing aesthetics of the time. “I began to think about what I thought furniture, specifically a chair, really might be, starting with the philosophy that it isn’t going to be aggressively technological, or aggressively handicraft…I, as a designer, felt there was room for the kind of decorative, gentle, graceful kind of design that appeared in period style like Louis XV, but it could have a more rational base instead of being applied decoration…I thought why separate support from the object. Just make it all one thing. Starts at the floor and comes up and envelops me, supports me…What I wanted to achieve was a chair that, number one, was complementary to the person sitting in it, or to the person in the space between the wall and the chair — what the chair did for the person in respect to the scale of the person and the space.”
