summary: fate drops regina and her boyfriend in need of a timely rescue. rodrick's never been happier that his van is a piece of (lovable) garbage.

Regina slips her phone into her pocket and smiles—all teeth. “Oh my God, isn’t that so nice?” She steps away from the jeep and squeezes Rodrick’s forearm. “You’re our hero. Thank you so much.” His skin burns where she touched him and he can’t tear his eyes away. Her tone is patronizing and saccharine. Her eyes are sharp, silver daggers aimed right as his chest. She’s fucking with him. He knows she is. He knows it! And yet, Rodrick wants to drop to his knees.

Rodrick kissed her like he had something to prove. She thought of his frenetic, lanky limbs and the resonant beat of his drums, thought of all the energy he poured into music, and how he was now pouring it into her. She’d never admit it aloud, but Rodrick’s raw, unfiltered passion for the things he loved was fucking hot. She dug her nails into his shoulders.

“Pfft.” She accepts the joint and their fingers brush. Rodrick’s skin tingles, but that might be the body-high from the weed. “You’re not the expert on what’s fun just ‘cause you threw one rager last year.”

His brow furrows. “You mean the party you weren’t invited to?”

The little ember burns bright as she inhales and flares Regina’s face with a soft, yellow glow. She puckers her lips and blows smoke through the window screen. It’s so hot. How is it possible that she’s making smoking hot? Rodrick’s fuzzy brain gets a little fuzzier.

“You’re a really rad chick,” he said, “we obviously have fun together when we hang out, and you’re a really good kisser, and I’d - I think it’d be pretty bitchin’ if we kept kissing,” he paused, sort-of remembering his mom’s lessons on consent and bodily autonomy. “Only if you want to. We don’t have to do any of that, actually.”
