Critter 1 (planing hull): …The weight of the surfer is supported on a planing hull by hydrodynamic lift not hydrostatic buoyancy. With increased velocity, the planing hull lifts out of the water, minimizing drag and resistance and propels the surfer into otherwise unreachable sections. As all planing hulls are deflectors, width plays a key role in delivering kinetic energy to the airfoil rail—the leading edge—that gives deflection. The body board is perhaps our greatest resource in the case for wider surf crafts; width steadies our glide and leaves a clean wake. Rocker is scrapped for a cambered, slightly upturned nose. On the subject of rocker, Bob Simmons remarked “Ya just don’t need it!” which is now the brusque mantra of Simmons devotees… #simmons #planninghull #bobsimmons #coolwave https://www.instagram.com/p/Bv7zJhDn5hB/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1tcil5cm0mfef
