Planetary Gear Sets
Planetary Gear Sets are composed of planetary gears, sun gears, planet carriers, and external ring gears, which can achieve functions such as differential, deceleration (acceleration), and reverse rotation. Planetary gear sets consist of three main components: a sun gear, planet gears, and a ring gear. In mechanical devices, the design of gear sets like planetary ones is crucial. Planetary Gear Sets are typically mounted on a carrier which allows them to rotate around the sun gear while also meshing with the ring gear. The reducers rotate around their own axis like fixed axis gears, their axis of rotation also rotates around the axis of other gears along with the planetary carrier. The rotation around one's own axis is called "self rotation", and the rotation around the axis of other gears is called "revolution", just like the planets in the solar system, hence the name for these specialized planetary gear sets.
Composition of planetary reducers:
The above figure is the structural diagram of the planetary gear set, where the yellow part is the sun gear, the dark green part is the ring gear, and the gray part is the planet carrier. These three components can be connected to three power outputs or inputs respectively. If either one is fixed, the other two are equivalent to regular gear meshing. If two of them are fixed, the entire planetary gear will be locked. In engineering, the composition of Planetary Gear Sets influences their operation. The planetary carrier is connected to the power source. After the planetary carrier is fixed, the planetary gears only rotate on their own and do not revolve around the sun gear.
Transmission mode of planetary gear sets:
1. The outer gear ring is fixed, and the sun gear and planetary carrier rotate in the same direction. The sun gear is a high-speed shaft, and the planet carrier is a low-speed shaft. The transmission ratio range of this transmission is between 3:1 and 12:1. 2. The planetary carrier is fixed, and the sun gear and inner ring gear rotate in opposite directions. The sun gear is a high-speed shaft, and the outer gear ring connecting shaft is a low-speed shaft. The applicable range of this transmission ratio is between 2:1 and 11:1. These transmission modes are typical in Planetary Gear Sets designs. 3. The sun gear is fixed, and the planet carrier and outer gear ring rotate in the same direction. The connecting shaft of the internal gear ring is a high-speed shaft, and the planetary carrier is a low-speed shaft. The transmission ratio range of this type of transmission is between 1.1:1 and 1.7:1.
