Day 1 of the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy course!
In which we make paper cranes, pester Oxford shops and sing Happy Birthday even though it's nobody's birthday. Seriously though, sincere apologies to all the businesses in central Oxford who were bombarded by students asking for business cards today...
So a few weeks ago I signed up to the PJEA course in Oxford, and today was the first day. I knew it'd be hard work but, well... It's like the Apprentice crossed with Dragon's Den (aka totally fun/nerve-wracking/challenging), 9-5pm, five days a week which means I have pretty much no time to endlessly look through the Tiger & Bunny tag ;_;. The class is full of brilliant, clever, accomplished people and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the year. But today, my team won the first origami challenge by making cranes which were worth 8 points, and pelicans which were worth 3 points! And we also won the second challenge which was to go out and about and collect business cards which were relevant to the fake factory we were pretending to set up. Except we kind of broke the challenge by pretending to set up a printing factory. Um. All businesses were relevant because all businesses need printing, right? So we came back with like, 100 business cards and about 200 flyers and everyone else had 20-30 cards from specially selected businesses. Lol. Oh well. Also the school governor asked the group to say whether standing up and singing a song in front of everyone right there on the spot, was in their comfort zone, anxiety zone or panic zone, and Vic and I were 2 of 3 to stand in the comfort zone. And then she asked us to sing so Vic got up and sang Happy Birthday. Lol I would totally have plugged our Wrock if she hadn't stood up first *shake fist* >_>. So yerp derp. All in all, totally freaking awesome. If you are a budding entrepreneur/interested in being self-employed or running a business or even just want to build your confidence and do something properly challenging, this course is amazing, and I'm only 1 day in! :)
