what kinda gemstone would the gay sun-moon dogsâ„¢ be?
i thought of citrine or orange aventurine for Vasco, citrine is simply beautiful, and aventurine has similar to his fur shades, and also adventure -like name which mstches him, i think. and ofc sunstone, 'cause yeah
for Machete - I'd say red agate or red beryl? agate has fancy white stripes, while beryl can have deep pink-ish red shades, and costs A LOT (like 10k$ per carat)
All of these are good options! This is the first time I've heard of red beryl, it looks so dramatic.
If you ask me, I see Vasco in certain types of ocean jasper! It's not just the golden/yellow/brown hues, it also includes some of the blues, turquoises and greens that he wears. The patterns in jasper are always rounded, which echoes Vasco's shape language.
But I've also seen some examples of lapis lazuli that have these flecks of pyrite ("fools's gold") in them, and they remind me of starry night sky, which is one of Vasco's motifs as well.
As for Machete, I don't know how strict you are about what counts as a gemstone, but if you permit organic gemstones, red coral is what I associate with him the strongest. Especially in it's natural, branched form, which has this uncanny anatomical look, like pieces of artery (fitting for someone who has anemia, is bloodlet regularly and eventually dies of catastrophic blood loss). It's the exact right shade of red as well.
And I have to mention asbestos (also very much not a gemstone but, you know, mineral? Close enough).
