I pinky promise to lore drop soon (need to get everything in order), but for now take this little doodle:

Aww rebellion chibis!! A fair trade, I suppose…

They were actually pretty agreeable upon meeting!! Yūk needed to be pointed in the right direction to learn more about Twisted Wonderland and where it truly resided (ie in a different galaxy/universe and what have you) and so asked Jamil about the nature of that world’s astronomy, begging him to give some information in exchange for help. Initially Jamil refused, then lamented that he would give some information if he stayed to “deal with the dorm’s training”, which Yūk would find out to mean go through all of it with the dorm members, dragging Grim along (he said it as if Kalim was too burdensome to give him any free time other than the small break given between treks). She would give a few tidbits of knowledge here and there at the Oasis and only the Oasis.

After the locking in the guest room, Yūkanna just… picked the lock and gave an earful to her, saying that they knew he was up to some weird shit and would only back off if he answered their questions. He noticed how off it was that whenever Kalim and Jamil would speak alone, Kalim would shift personalities rigidly upon return, though he didn’t really have any proof for the accusation.

Anyway, they exchanged information and Jamil showed her some examples of the galaxy surrounding TWST, and even with the slightest hint of information on Jamil’s family background and duties, Yūk commented that it was not only unjust, but simply unfair.

They teamed up against Kalim, Yūk thinking that Kalim losing his autonomy was a fair trade for Jamil never having hers, and so helping out to pay back his helpfulness. They pretty much become partners in crime for majority of book 4, gaining a mutual respect outside of dignity.

He did attempt to stop Jamil from overblotting, but was clearly unsuccessful and relented the information of his magic to Octavinelle, feeling remorse upon Kalim’s sorrow. They stay friendly after book four and Yūk helps out when he can, the two even practicing together along with Kalim, Grim, Pomefiore, and Adeuce in book 5!

OOOOO OF COURSE!!

So similarly to Yuu, they met outside of Ramshackle when Malleus was taking a nightly stroll, and scared Yūk half to death. He wasn’t really frightened by his appearance or anything, he’s kind of a freak and thought she looked cool, so,,

Throughout books 2-4 they have occasional meet-ups, and despite learning of his status, Yūkanna keeps quiet about it, figuring it best to not disturb the mask she’d made of herself to keep in his good graces, and they become friends.

In book 5, Yūkanna is met with a lot of insecurity regarding himself and what it is they’re even doing (book four gave him a perspective on just where he is but that’s too much plot to write down here), so he asks Malleus for help in figuring out whether his falling is due to a curse or an uncontrolled ability of some kind, prompting them to work together throughout that time and into book 6.

They get along pretty well initially, with matched loneliness and even similar habits like teasing others. Though to actually figure more out about the “curse” they share more about its nature and their past— so we get some heart-to-hearts there.

I kind of wrote their dynamic to be someone who’s been avoided and isolated their whole life and will do anything to keep those dear with them (Malleus) x someone who’s been avoiding others their whole life and accepts losses and failures too much to treat any new place as anything more than something to erase what’s left of the past (Yūkanna). They have a lot of back-and-forth going on.

They also have a lot against them for their relationship, essentially being opposites and even worsening situations for the other (Yūk may or may not have made a threat to Malleus during book 7 that made literally everything worse, and Malleus is very possessive of those she cares for which causes more than a few issues for Yūkanna) but they still care about each other nonetheless, and find that they can speak freely to one another anyway.

ooooooo okay!! Fun question :3

ace - they find ace really fun to be around. He’s very mischievous and that’s always a trait yūkanna finds worthwhile in friends.

deuce - his respect battling with delinquency is charming, and they, ace, and grim are always a troublesome pair in the few shared classes they have.

jack - yūk teases jack a lot, calling him a tsundere and yet trusting him greatly, especially after book 3.

epel - he finds epel’s true nature more fun than his soft-spoken facade, purposefully adding subtle comments here and there to make him lose his temper. He’s fun to tease, but also reliable.
