In New Zealand, Boxing Day is reserved for shopping! As everyone has opened their Christmas gifts, there might be some gifts which need to be exchanged or people wanting to spend gift vouchers. After 4 hours of shopping, I’d had enough. I needed a drink and some food! Therefore, we decided to try the Cleaver & Co. in the Northwest Shopping Centre. The restaurant’s style is Texan/American BBQ. They claim that they have a southern smoker called Bertha which came from Tennessee to slowly cook all the meat for up to 14 hours. First up, I seriously needed a drink after dealing with all the people today. So I ordered Emerson’s Pilsner and @samba_nz had Thomas & Rose apple cider with strawberry and lime. After drinks were served, we ordered pitmaster’s platter and beef brisket. After I saw the portion size, we really could’ve just ordered the pitmaster’s platter because there were so much food! The ribs are definitely tender, it literally melts in your mouth. The meatballs were good, briskets are very tender as well. Most interesting is the Mac N Cheese Bites with their special dipping sauce. It was extremely awesome. I had to abandon the garlic bread on the platter and @samcb_nz had to help out in order to finished the platter. Even though we were pretty full, the Snickers Sundae caught my eyes on the menu, so we ordered one to share. I was pleasantly surprised as it tasted just like a snickers with the peanuts in the bottom of the mason jar. The food was great but feel their service can improve as there were not many customers in the restaurant, but we waited over 10 minutes to have our plates cleared. Also, my glass was empty for over 10 minuets and they didn’t come over to check if we needed anything. However, this definitely have not put us off. We are coming back in 2018 to try the Tuesday steak night! . . . #Food #TasteWithTingaling #CleaverandCo #NorthWest #Auckland #NewZealand #TexanStyleBBQ #Meats #BeefBriskets #PitmasterPlatter #SnickerSundae #DefinitelyComingBack (at Cleaver & Co - NorthWest)
