PIP SMITH Penguin Plays Rough is a monthly night of short fiction. Each month they programme five writers to read their short stories, novel extracts and scenes from plays or film scripts. PPR’s aim is to promote imaginatively wild writers, at all stages of development, and try to programme more seasoned writers alongside those who write with energy and originality, but may be a little green around the publishing gills. They do this by commissioning and promoting composition through live performance and recorded media, as well as creative initiatives such as commission brokerage and mentoring. Chronology Arts : www.chronologyarts.net LEIGH RIGOZZI Blood & Thunder was set up in 2009 by Leigh Rigozzi, Mickie Quick and Kernow Craig so they could indulge themselves in the simple pleasure of printing and publishing beautiful stencil printed books and other printed matter. They use a two-colour Riso stencil press and a Heidelberg letterpress to produce most of their publications. StageBitz is a web-based system for the entertainment industry. It supports production teams by allowing them to collaborate online to capture all the design, technical and usage specifications for a show; create and assign tasks and manage budgets; share inventories online with other companies and more. Prosser is a former stage and production manager who was frustrated by the lack of industry-specific software to help production teams in their jobs, so she and Co-Founder Mat Lawrence developed their own! StageBitz www.stagebitz.com MICHAEL MOHAMMED AHMAD Chief Editor, Westside Publications is an ongoing writing and publishing project initiated by Bankstown Youth Development Service in 1998. Westside Publications produces literary anthologies including Westside Literary Journal and Westside Jr, as well as a number of performance events, videos projects, workshops and residencies. Westside is unique in being the only ongoing literary project that features Western Sydney writers, visual artists and photographers. Westside Publications www.byds.org.au REBECCA CLARKE and TAHLI CORIN ISM is a writers' collective/posse/porous hub. Along with gathering together for good old-fashioned learning, support and sharing, they’ve been compelled to create some broader community events including NOT the NSW Premier's Literary Awards, the Playwrights’ Muster at Griffin Theatre and NovemberISM, a month-long independent festival for playwrights at the Old 505 Theatre in 2011. ISM http://novemberism.com/ ALASDAIR NICOL 107 Projects is the vision of seven of the driving forces behind Knot Gallery, The Frequency Lab and Token Imagination. In collaboration with a community of dedicated creative practitioners, these collectives have been working together to produce arts events since 2001. Their new space at Redfern Street will open officially in September this year as a place for creative practitioners to perform, exhibit, develop new works, hone their skills, engage in workshops and continue to grow professionally. 107 Projects www.107projects.org
