this is what happens when we let conservative(-leaning) white men write and adapt stories about revolutionary female characters. not saying grrm is perfect either but unless he pulls a complete 180 in the last two books (if he ever finishes them that is) he's mostly in the clear for me. and he created daenerys!

but it's so very clear to anyone with half a brain that the showrunners of got absolutely hate female characters who don't conform to patriarchy. it's not just daenerys who suffered this, it was arya too. it was arianne who wasn't even adapted (which may have been a blessing in disguise). they did a piss-poor job with cersei and her arc.
