The Fluyt
They were just merchant ship for the European area and were mainly used for bulk goods. Therefore, their armament was light and their crews small.

The Pinasse
These ships were smaller but more robust than the Fluyt. Due to their construction, they were able to carry 15-20 guns and had a crew of 20 men. Therefore, in addition to trading to Canada and the West Indies, they were also used for expeditions such as to the Arctic.
