More Headcanons for Norman (and Daisy)
He HATES tomatoes. Donât ask Daisy why. Donât ask Norman why. They donât know. He canât even eat them. He just hates them for some reason.
He likes to sneak up behind Daisy and kiss her on the cheek when she isnât looking, because she makes the most adorable squeaking noise and buries her face in her hands when he does, and it is the cutest thing that Norman has ever seen.
Once, right after he was activated, he tried to feed Daisy a living grasshopper because it was in his exotic foods database, and looked extremely sad when she wouldnât eat it. Needless to say, she updated that list of foods almost immediately.
He likes to do ridiculously obvious robotic things like charging and making his eyes change color when John is around, and act normal around everyone else, just to drive him insane. He knows that he shouldnât, but the frustrated screaming is just too amusing.
Until he learned the different figures of speech and the functions of sarcasm and jokes in the English language, Norman took things extremely literally. Daisy would say that it was raining cats and dogs, and he would immediately drag her inside to protect her from falling animals. She said that she had butterflies in her stomach, and he panicked and tried to take her to a hospital. She tried a knock knock joke and he just looked at her in confusion through the entire thing. She called one of her friends a night owl because she had texted her late at night, and Norman asked her how she had been texting with a bird. She told him that she could just lie in bed and curl up with him forever, and he looked at her straight in the eye and told her in a very serious tone that she couldnât because she would die. At that point, she gave up and started teaching him figures of speech.
He changes his hair and eye color to compliment whatever Daisy is wearing that day. She didnât program him to do that. He just started doing it absentmindedly when he was learning colors.
The first time she activated him, the very first thing he did was open his mouth to say something and let out an unholy, ear splitting shriek before promptly shutting down because she forgot to set up a system for him to adjust his voice volume.
She gave him the ability to speak from the get go, but he didnât quite know how to form the words, and had to practice with them to get a feel for them. The very first thing he ever said was Daisy, and before he learned to speak properly, he would occasionally wander up to her and kiss her before smiling and simply saying âDaisy. My Daisy,â and every single time, she would absolutely melt with happiness.
He is an amazing cook, but he certainly didnât start out that way. Daisy only programmed him with the knowledge of how to make her favorite foods, so when she wanted him to make something else, he had to learn it, and all the ingredients and recipes, from scratch. And given that he had no idea what half of the ingredients even were, his first attempt was a catastrophe that left them both curled up on the floor, laughing and covered in flour as they tried to calm down long enough to figure out how to turn off the smoke detector.
He likes to wander up and settle his chin on Daisyâs head and just hold her. Sometimes, they will just stay like this for a while, just enjoying being together.
Daisy has a collection of old devices with AIâs through the decades for study, and the first time Norman found them, he sat there for hours with an old iPhone in his hands, talking to Siri, getting increasingly frustrated when she wouldnât hold a proper conversation with him.
He occasionally will get Daisy chocolates and flowers to surprise her, just to see her smile.
The first time they watched a horror movie together, because Norman had never been exposed to anything like it, he legitimately believed that it was real, and would check and double check the locks on the house and that it was truly empty before they would go to bed. It got so bad that Daisy had to sit down with him and carefully explain the difference between fiction and nonfiction, and that âbased on a true storyâ doesnât necessarily mean that is really was.
He didnât originally have a favorite color. Daisy never gave him one. The first time that someone asked him, he stared at them blankly, trying to figure out what they meant by a âfavoriteâ color. What did they mean by favorite? He loves all colors. When they said that it was typically your favorite color to see, he immediately answered with blue. The color of Daisyâs eyes.
His coworker Adam once asked what his sexuality was, and he told them he didnât know. The resulting conversation went something like this: A: âYou donât know? Let me see if I can help. So, first question: what do you like? Girls, guys, neither..? N: âI like Daisy.â A: âWell, yeah, I mean, sheâs your wife. She is a girl, right? So you like girls?â N: âNo, I donât like girls. I like Daisyâ A: âBut Daisy IS a girl. So, you must like girlsâ N: âI donât like girls. I just like Daisyâ A: âOkay, fine then. What is your type? What type of people do you like.â N: âDaisyâ A: âOTHER THAN DAISYâ N: âI just like Daisy.â A: âLet me get this straight. You are literally attracted to Daisy, and only Daisy.â N: âYesâ A: ââŚ.Norman, I donât even know how to respond to thatâ
The first time that he and Daisy had a fight, he immediately stopped shouting when her mood percentage started to drop, and when it just kept going down the more she yelled, the more desperately he tried to calm her down and apologize, only to make it worse, until he finally started to cry, because he couldnât fix it and it was all his fault and he was supposed to make her happy, and he was failing at his directive. The fight was forgotten very quickly after that, as Daisy immediately hugged him as tightly as she could and tried her best to calm him down, only for him to cry even more because him being sad was making her sad. By the end of the night, they were both in tears, and Norman stayed home from work the next day just so that he could cuddle with her.
Norman has declared more than once that Daisyâs health and care is more important than anything, and there have been times where he has risked getting fired by staying home last minute because she isnât feeling well or is sad or forgot to eat breakfast and he is worried about her. She actually wound up having to tone down the protect Daisy program a bit, because every time she would skip a meal because she wasnât hungry, Norman would panic and not stop bothering her about it until she ate something, and would refuse to let her get out of bed until she got a whole 8 hours of sleep, even if she had things that she needed to do.
Norman can type so fast that he breaks keyboards. At one point, Daisy timed him, and his typing speed is over 300 words per minute. He has to slow down when he is at work so that he doesnât get caught typing faster than any human should be capable of, and it drives him insane, because he feels like he isnât getting anything done.
Daisy gave him a total of 4 different ways to charge. Sleeping, moving, eating, and with a charging cable.
His coworkers have learned to never, EVER, ask him about Daisy. Because if they do, he will never stop. He will go on about every little detail about her and how perfect she is for hours. It has become an unspoken rule in the workplace that you donât even mention flowers around him, because that is enough for him to start another conversation about Daisy.
If he could spend his entire life curled up someplace warm, hugging Daisy, he would.
He will do anything to make Daisy smile. Be it jokes, poking her constantly until she wheels around to glare at him so that he can kiss her, intentionally acting ridiculous, random tickle attacks, scooping her up and hugging her from behind, or curling up as close to her as he possibly can so that she feels safe, Daisy being happy is more important to him than anything.
He has a habit of rolling over in his sleep and wrapping his arms around Daisy. Normally, this would be fine, but he is about 10 times stronger than her. If she ever wants to get out of bed in the morning, she has to nudge him awake and coax him to let her go with kisses, or she isnât going anywhere for a while.
Daisy once had to sit down with him and painstakingly explain to him that, no, the other person named Daisy that met at the grocery store was not impersonating her, and no, he didnât need to call the police. And then had to do the same thing 3 weeks later with a different Daisy. She still doesnât think he ever quite figured it out.
If Daisy falls asleep on top of him, he wonât move until she wakes up. He doesnât want to make her sad, so he will stay completely still, no matter where they are, or what he is supposed to be doing. She once woke up to the fire alarm going off because she fell asleep with her head in his lap while they were waiting for dinner to finish cooking, and he had just stayed there until the oven caught fire.
He will wear full suits even when it is way too warm or cold for him to. Daisy has had to drag him back inside more times than she can count and force him to change into something else, and has had to put up with him pouting for the rest of the day as a result.
He is extremely curious. If he comes across something that he doesnât understand, he will tilt his head slightly to the side and look at it in confusion, trying to figure out what it does. Daisy has gotten used to stopping 10 or 20 times each time they go somewhere. She canât even pretend to be exasperated at him for it, because of how happy he looks when she tells him what it does or he finally figures it out.
If Daisy gets hurt, even if it is a paper cut, he will panic and refuse to let her move until he has made sure that it is properly bandaged up and taken care of. Every time it happens, she winds up having to comfort him and assure him that a paper cut doesnât mean that he is failing his directive.
He is well aware of how charming he is, and uses it to his advantage. He could probably talk someone out of the deed to their house if he tried. He has wound up getting himself scolded more than once for messing with people when he is bored.
He loves the stars. He will sit outside for hours and watch them if he can. Sometimes, Daisy will go and sit next to him, smiling as he happily points out constellations and talks about the sky for hours.
He has absolutely mastered the art of puppy dog eyes when he wants something. Daisy knows full well that he is doing it on purpose, but she just canât say no when he is looking at her like that.
It is actually possible for him to overheat if he gets too happy. Daisy has to be careful with kisses, because if she makes him too happy all at once, he will wind up shutting down due to a temperature warning, and just freeze in place wherever he is until she cools him back down again.
He doesnât quite understand the difference between âfoodâ and ânutrientsâ. He has tried to feed Daisy all sorts of strange things before, because they match the nutrients that she still needs for the day. Twigs, bars of soap, pinecones, and paper clips have all would up on their kitchen table at some point, resulting in a very long discussion about what is and isnât edible.
He is the master of snowball fights. Daisy will wind up absolutely covered in snow, and he will still be completely dry. She gets even with him by kissing him and dumping a handful of snow down the back of his shirt while he is distracted.
The day he found out about stickers, both he and Daisy wound up absolutely covered in them. He will occasionally wander up to her and stick one on her forehead, because he knows that it will make her smile.
