i have been thinking so hard about this and i feel like it'd be a bit awkward but like also kinda endearing at the same time :))

Willow had to make a conscious effort not to stare for too long. Kerri’s beauty was ethereal and they couldn’t help but be in awe.

They cursed themself for the awkward air that was hanging over them as Willow struggled to find words to say. To think she was actually on a date with Kerri was enough to make her head spin, the soft smile she gave them when they looked up at her was enough to destroy whatever confidence had built and reduce them to a mess of overwhelming feelings, only able to gawk at how gorgeous her date was.

“You’re so pretty.” The blonde spoke up, still staring at Kerri as she smiled at them. Kerri grabbed their hand, gently squeezing it before tugging her closer to her side.

“You’re adorable.” They’d made it to the cafe with Willow somehow still in tact, trying to remember how to act like a person as Kerri went off to the counter to get their drinks. A voice in their head was saying something, questioning why Kerri was even interested in her. They tried their best to block it out, eyes drifting back to Kerri as she walked back over, placing a coffee in front of willow.

“Mmm, drinkies.”

Kerri laughed at that, a sound that made Willow’s stomach flip. Kerri grabbed her hand once more, absentmindedly caressing it with her thumb. The silence after felt long, though Willow managed to compose herself enough to be able to drink her coffe and look Kerri in the eye without freezing up completely.

“So how’s Squid?” That did it, kerri knew by the smile on Willow’s face, exceptionally excited to show cute pictures of their cat and chat about all the stupid things he got up to. She found herself staring as Willow rambled, hanging onto every word they said like it was the most important thing in the world. Their conversations became easier from there, like they were just hanging out and the romantic air of the situation not consuming them so much.

“Look at him, doesn't he make a cute skeleton. We’re matching because I'm dead inside.” Willow pulled up a picture of the grey cat in a skeleton costume, grinning as Kerri awed over the picture. “I don’t know, you look pretty alive to me.” “It’s how I lure people in, before I corrupt them. It’s too late to run.” Kerri doubled over in laughter at Willow’s comment, something about the deadpan delivery or the devious smile that quickly faded into an infection laugh. She couldn’t see the adorable person in front of her as a threat. Just an adorably strange girl she wanted to spend much more time with, and gain the trust of their cat. That part was incredibly important.
