hello and good day Dennis! U seem to know a lot about Metropolis music! u have any cool funfacts to share?
it has also come to my attention that there are many different soundtracks for Metropolis in addition to the one by Gottfried (which i assume is the original?) do u have any reccomondations of alternate versions of Metropolis i should watch concidering the soundtrack?

hii thank u! i really really recommend the og Gottfried Huppertz soundtrack cause to me Metropolis isn't the same without it. (plus, alternate versions like to cut out different sections of the film...) i though the full thing was available on the internet archive but i can't find it anymore... sad... the 2011 remaster is still up on youtube tho!
the leitmotifs Huppertz uses in his score just makes the film more magical I think. the more you listen to it the more you recognize which themes are attached to their respective characters and which ideas are references in certain scenes. to my knowledge the filming was heavily intertwined with the score, where Huppertz was actually on set playing piano and directing people to act in tandem with it. Also I think he gets a cameo in the movie! If you look closely during the first Yoshiwara sequence I think he's the violin player. This 99 year old movie is still fascinating every time I think about it

God it's gotta be Rick Wakeman. Ricky you welcomed me in 2024 and you're seeing me off for 2025. I didn't get to see his show when he toured here but that doesn't matter since I'm still quite a normal fan of his music lol. Journey to the Center of the Earth changed me as a person and I will never be the same again
