Lent begins Wednesday, February 17, the day I return from renewal leave. Talk about a season of transition!â â A few years ago, the good folks at #PictureLent suggested creating a wilderness rock garden as a visual reminder of the season. I loved the idea and continue to use it.â â WHAT YOU WILL NEEDâ Sandâ A trayâ At least 40 rocks in a containerâ Tealight and holderâ optional- additional symbolsâ â ASSEMBLING THE ROCK GARDENâ Place a couple of inches of sand in the tray. I used a woven tray so I had to line it with parchment paper and place it on a solid tray.â â Place the tealight in its holder on the sand. Add additional symbols if you like.â â I use a mixture of rocks and shells from my travels in my garden. Use whatâs meaningful to you.â â USING THE ROCK GARDENâ Spend a few moments in quietness as you place a rock in the garden every day during Lent.â â What does the rock mean to you?â * Is it a burden you are releasing to God?â * Are you marking your time with Jesus in the wilderness?â * Is it a habit tracker for something youâve given up for Lent or a holy habit youâve added for Lent?â *Something else?â â On Sundays, light the candle instead of placing a rock in the garden. Every Sunday is a little Easter, even during Lent.â â Comment with your ideas for making and using the garden below!â â #lent #ashwednesday #rhythm #sacredrhythms #focus #intentionalliving #mindfulnesspractice â #braveliving #wholeheartedliving #spiritualpractice #spiritualdiscipline #meansofgrace #stoplooklisten #fullypresent #listeningtogod #godisnear #christianspirituality #trustgod #sanctification #spiritualmaturity #journeyoffaith â #lent2021 (at Sarasota, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CK6UY39laPL/?igshid=16zcs2532s12o
