and yeah, while i’m not muslim i am originally from a muslim country, so i kind of understand where you’re coming from

hahaha, yeah your view on feminism was clouded by a generalisation and stereotype that feminists are noisy and hate men and create problems

which, i’m not gonna lie, is what i thought feminists were too. maybe a year ago today i literally said to a bunch of guys who were mouthing off females “it’s okay, i’m not a feminist or anything”

and that’s probably one of my biggest regrets. i should have stood up for my gender, (and i’d probably would have been seen as a bitch if i had done so) and put them right. you can’t talk about women- let alone anyone- like that

when it really comes down to it— feminism is about EQUALITY and being treated as normal human beings. 

it’s the same concept as racism or homophobia

we all literally look the same on the inside so why can’t we be treated the same???????////

ALL I WANT IS EQUALITY WOWWWWWWw

okay yeah, that’s not okay. i’m sorry you got that message- i know you weren’t out to start a fight. and i honestly, i’ve never done something like this before. i’ve never voiced my opinion this much on my blog. 

but, as i want you to respect my opinion- when i read your first message i was taken aback and shocked

please please please please just get this:

calling yourself a feminism doesn’t mean you hate men

or that you have to go out on rallies and yell at white men

calling yourself a feminism means you hold pride in your gender

it means you believe, yourself, and every single other woman on the planet deserves equal rights. 

if you look at how women are portrayed in the media; have you ever wondered why whenever a movie or show has a main female protagonist- it’s suddenly a chick flick??? idk i wouldn’t blatantly call it sexism, though it’s a little unfair and stereotypical

or when boys think they’re entitled to get in a girl’s pants just cause they’re nice to them (aka the ‘friendzone’. which can exist, i suppose, on both sides. when you really really like someone but they only think of you as a friend. but when males complain ‘she’s a bitch, i was only nice to her and i know her better than anyone else so she must belong to me no one else’ like idk a girl can make her own decision i think she knows what she’s doing)

or when a girl is called a bitch just cos she has a strong opinion or is decisive and knows what she wants cos lbr if a man said their opinion blatantly he’d be just really cool dude that knows what’s up

OR HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ASked if you’re on your period?? by a guy??? because he thinks you look moody or you’ve stated your opinion against him??? i have. it was really hurtful that he would think i would only have the opinion just because i’m on my period so my emotions and view of the world must be a delusion.

and how females on tv shows or movies must always be the lover who is easily killed, and who is helpless in the eye of the man

I never gave much notice of this statistic. Until I found out that a co-worker with the same job title as me was being paid $2/hour more than I was. Although I had beenworking a year longer than he had.

I thought, oh prob a mistake. No, my other co worker (female) with the same job who was hired a month after him was being paid $2 less as well.

The ironic part is that I found out about this,  bc he and I were talking about feminism. And he says women are equal, and I pointed out women are paid less. And when I told him how much I was paid, his jaw dropped. Sadly, I proved my point.
