11 degrees can make a person a little loopy. #phwx #okwx
Had fun at the severe storm symposium at the Amarillo Civic Center today! #phwx
FRIDAY: There is some risk of severe weather Friday across the Texas Panhandle and SW Kansas. The details are iffy right now, but if adequate moisture return occurs then there will be plenty of wind shear to support organized severe thunderstorms along a developing dryline. Would not be surprised if a slight risk was issued on a Day Two outlook tomorrow if models continue to come into agreement on the details. Still a bit out, but it looks like we could be seeing our first threat of organized severe weather in the Southern Plains in quite awhile! #txwx #phwx #weather #kswx
A mean glowing green RFD wraps around a wall cloud in the Texas Panhandle on May 18, 2010. This storm produced several tornadoes (and was about to here) from Dumas to Stinnett, Texas. This storm also dropped baseballs on our chase car, trashing the windshield.

NOW: Severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 10pm for the Texas Panhandle, NW Texas, and SW Oklahoma. Large hail, damaging winds, and a tornado or two appear the likely threats with storms. Storms should continue to develop and organize this afternoon, with supercells and multicell clusters eventually organizing into an eastward moving line of storms. This line should be further south than last night, hopefully giving more folks in this region who need rain a good batch of it! (Aug 8, 2013)
TODAY: Very springlike severe weather setup across the Southern Plains today, with strong SW'ly flow aloft overspreading SE'ly low level moist flow. This setup should yield a few supercells early as they form in the Eastern Texas Panhandle and spread east northeast. Very large hail and a tornado or two are possible with the first storms. Later this evening, a strong line of storms could develop with what could be a substantial damaging wind threat overnight. Stay weather aware today! #okwx #txwx #phwx
