a year in photos ✖︎ 2010
this is volume one of a series that shows highlights from my google photos, facebook pictures, and tagged pictures with little stories beneath them. take a ride with me through 2010, where nothing made sense and everyone was ugly.
sept. 19, 2009 – ok so this technically isn’t 2010, but it’s the very first picture i was ever tagged in on facebook. what am i wearing? why is my skirt pulled up so high? why am i posing with a michael jackson poster at a movie theater? why did i only button the top button of that puke-colored cardigan? the only person who knows the answers to these questions is 13-year old hannah. i was at the movies with three of my friends. i remember that we saw cloudy with a chance of meatballs and when they two animated characters kissed, kyle planted one on anna. romance.
april 17, 2010 – this was on the bus to washington d.c. on our 8th grade trip. my hoodie was from hollister and i thought that meant i was hot shit. see the girl next to me? still one of my very best friends. i love this picture for a lot of reasons, but mostly because later this day, gabrielle got motion sickness when we were almost to gettysburg and threw up. good times <3 we sat up front on the bus so we could hang out with our teachers and principal. god, we were so cool.
from left to right: gigi (we were friends until like 9th grade and then she got cooler than me), karly (my cousin), anna (my old best friend), gabrielle, and me
june 17, 2010 – while this is a great memory, i think that the editing on this one really is what makes it stand out. that saturation. that vignette. i was the one that posted this one, so i was the mastermind behind the edits. what a surprise. this is from field day in 8th grade. we all came to my house to get ready, whatever that meant, and then we all put on the most obnoxious sunglasses we could find and we were ready to go! i am so glad im not 13 anymore.
from left to right: me, tara (my first best friend from like 3rd grade), gabrielle, gigi
june 26, 2010 – “roughin’ it”. that’s what we called this weekend. my mom kindly let me pick three friends to go on a girls camping weekend 20 minutes away from where we live. we honestly had the best time. we swam and learned cheer moves, we talked to random boys at the arcade, and gigi (far right) ate about 10 marshmallows in one sitting. i still remember this weekend fondly. also, notice that gabrielle is in this picture too. she was clearly a fan favorite.
from left to right: my mom, tara’s mom, kyle, kyle’s mom, me, cameron, tara, anna, kylemartin, olivia
oct. 3, 2010 – kyle’s birthday party. we all went to see rocky horror. we were 14 and our moms came with us and i think it was one of the most fun things i have ever done. we got our costumes from our community theater shed and we all tried to be different characters. i was a flapper with purple hair, tara was a bride, olivia was a bee, and kyle was dr. frank n furter himself. my mom is killin’ it on the end with her boa. slay, bex. the two boys standing behind all of us, cameron and kylemartin, were terrified because they had no idea what rocky horror was. it was honestly hilarious.
from left to right: alexis, erin, larisa, abby, hailey, paige, marissa, emily, ella, gigi, me, gabrielle, and taylor
oct. 16, 2010 – high school football games. they were the darkest times of my life. it was every girl’s goal to be wearing a football player’s jersey. see the one i’m wearing? yeah, gigi (the girl on my left), was actually just given two, so she gave me the one she didn’t want. that’s actually kinda sad. i’m still friends with most of these girls, and if lena was in this picture, every LAD would be in it. crazy.
nov. 9, 2010 – this guy is in jail now for child pornography. that’s all i have to say about this one.
from left to right: katie, chad, anna, jacob, me, kyle
nov. 22, 2010 – this is from the musical white christmas. i was playing a ditzy showgirl who wore next to nothing the whole show, and anna was playing the lead. it was a good deal. this show was so special to me because i was so close to everyone in it and it was honestly just a lot of fun. i miss community theater a lot.
dec. 11, 2010 – my first school dance and my last school dance (until senior year, that is), and you can tell why from this picture. we round out 2010 with one of the most atrocious hairdos i have ever seen. i paid someone to do that. really. well, my mom did. speaking of my mom, that’s her next to me! i give her mad props for telling me i looked pretty this day, even when i really looked like a discarded napkin with bushy hair and an ugly necklace. i didn’t have a date, which is a good thing because he probably would have gotten lost in my spiral curls. ugh.
