Don’t ever ask yourself “is this RWDE.” If you have to, it probably is. Raising questions and using critical thinking means it’s RWDE. That sounds silly but the tag was made for that exact purpose; fans didn’t want to see any semblance (hah) of negativity. There’s nothing wrong with being genuinely confused over something confusing. No one will get mad at you for offering criticism because we’re here for that. If anyone gives you hell it’s because they went to the tag to antagonize people.
“If you have to ask it probably is” is a good guide. It’s just been so long since I really engaged with RWBY content that I’ve forgotten where the threshold is for when fndm starts thinking critical thinking or questions becomes too negative to go without the RWDE tag. I remember when the RWDE tag first really became a thing after Monty put up a letter saying it might be good to have a tag like that so that people who didn’t want to get too deep into things, or didn’t want to see something negative for whatever reason could have something to blacklist. I was just getting involved in my second major fandom when the first or second major wave of people purposely going into the rwde tag to get angry at what they found and trying label people as “fake fans” or whatever was at a boiling point again. Getting back to RWBY after so long with that being one of the last memories of the tag had me a little unsure of my footing, but I plan to use it as it was originally intended as needed going forward.

Because RWBY is an entire franchise built around one dude's handful of character designs he wanted to use to emulate over the top fight scenes
That was a believable justification back when the show was still in its early stage and still not a lot of budget for anything else, 5 volumes and 6th one on the way, and they still can’t flesh out the characters or the setting properly despite making so much money out of it.

i have so many.. i’d wear them all the time in hs and college but now that im working (with kids) I cant :/ if only i could go out with friends or a s/o on weekends but NOPE!! i dont have any of those!!!
