what's your favorite phoneme?
@favorite-phoneme-creature
probably /y:/ and /Y/ ! :>
(e.g the ü in the German "über" and "Hütte" respectively)
what are your favourite sounds in the IPA? i like / æ ʒ ð oʊ aɪ/
as an english native all of the unaspirated stops are quite tasty... pair that with /a e i o u/ and it's just so goood
in particular all of the carribean spanish sounds actually they're phenomenal Yum yum yum
some more good ones are /x χ j ɾ ʃ ʒ m n ʁ/
no opinion on the vowels really but /ə/ is a funny one Hehehe.
*sees the word "debit"*
"what the fuck is a de-bit?"
Phonemes (& Mouth Shapes)
To start working on the process of animating the actual speaking part of the animation, I decided on the sentence I was going to say. I decided to just read a line from the book I was working from ("A Mouse Called Julian – Joe Todd-Stanton). I chose "The fox bared his teeth". Once I had my sentence, I took a video of myself saying the sentence and analysed the video to copy the mouth shapes. I then drew out the mouth shapes that I would need.
Once I was happy with the shapes of the mouths, I decided to take a stop-motion video (using Stop Motion Studio) with them to make sure they actually looked like they were saying the sentence. I was very pleased with the result, especially because this is my first time ever trying something like this.

c-allophone-ia girls,
we are predictable,
distinct speech sounds,
easy to spot
p > I compare graphemes & amp ; phonemes on the board < /p >
So-- I'm really bad at phonetics lmao- and I'm not sure if my conlangs make any sense at all.
Does anyone have some feedback for me on this one? Or any tips on how to go about making sound inventories? I'd like to get better at them.
I just don't know what distribution of phonemes makes sense, and sound change has always been a mystery to me-
