hellcali bodyswap where holly barges into mike (will's) room to ask him why he hasn't tried calling the byers yet today bc he ususally hogs the phone for forever and she wants to call her friend mary and will's just like whut. the phone?? hello???
This is El's escape scene (or Mike's fantasy of it). Aside from the seemingly numberless clock: the disconnected yellow phone?? Hello?? Will trying to reach Mike...or Mike trying to reach Will...also phonegate...MUCH TO PONDER
phonegate is one of my favourite things ever because there was absolutely no need to add in the ‘mike won’t stop whining about it’ unless they wanted to show that mike really DID try to call will and DID miss him and want to talk to him more than will thinks he did.
there wasn’t even any real need to add in the ‘joyce has this telemarketer job, she’s always on the phone’ unless to add context/ give a reason as to why will thought mike wasn’t calling at all (‘you’ve called maybe a couple times, mike. it’s been a year!’)
they wanted to subtly hint to the ga that things are not what they seem, and wills perspective of ‘mike will never love me back’ is incorrect.
